Can anyone recommend a good wetsuit glove that has a longish 'sleeve'? Currently my glove and suit sleeves only overlap by about 2", inevitably when I am paddling or getting dunked they often separate. Any help is appreciated! .... I apologize in advance for posing a surf related question, I know it is frowned upon.
Sounds like your suit is the wrong size...maybe a size up. Most gloves are cut at a similar length...Xcels are well liked on the EC. The the quick goo gloves i have are fairly decent "sleeve" and the Xcel lobster 5mil should work as well also...
As others have posted the wetsuit size might be the problem. Seeing as you probably dont want to spend the money on a new one I would go to your local surf shop and try on a few and get the ones that you think will work the best. Having said all that I highly recommend xcel wetsuit accessories. Warmest and most durable I have found. The drylock system gloves by xcel might work for you they have a collar that bends in so even if you have separation little to no water should get in.
Wouldn't advise Hyperflex. My daughter got me some for Christmas, bless her heart (see Southern Wimmen vid on Clean Up tread). Mine leak so bad that they fill up with water in my house. Have to dump 'em daily or they make a puddle on the floor.
Something like this might work as well. Only 2mm but with all the other rubber it should keep your arms warmer than what you have now. Just like pull it as far into your hands as you can or maybe cut a thumb hole so it stays in the gloves.
Sorry about the poor pic quality. I have a... What was it metard called it... A 2 centipixel flip phone iPotato. But hey, it's hacker proof. Flip phones are the new cool these days.
I had oneill boots that were like that....filled up to the ankles with water. To turn a negative into a small positive I would then use the water from the opposite boot to wash of the sand on the other boot and voila I had two boots with no sand on them ready to chuck into the car.
A long time ago I went to "long" sizes. Look for brands that offer a "Medium Long" or "Large Long," and that should solve your problem.
Mine overlap about 2 inches too... sometimes its only an inch... maybe its your wetsuite size... have you considered starting a hello thread to introduce yourself? I see this is your first post since like 2012. and dude all we know about you is that you may possibly have long arms.... maybe try some electrical tape around your cuffs on the outside. this helps with the ankle/boot that I don't have the leash on. you are tucking your glove under your wetsuite arm... arnt you??
Hello, my name is Aaronious, I've been addicted to surfing off and on since my family move to Kauai when I was 13. I spent a few years living in Park City snow boarding and going to school. I moved to NYC a few years back for work and a girl, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that you can (if you try real hard) find some surf in Long Island and in New Jersey. Thank you all for the advise, I'll give some of it a try. And yes, the real cause of the problem is that my suit is a little short on the arms, I usually wear a MT, but found a good deal on a 6/5/4 M, that seemed to fit well, just ended up being a little short in the arms. I thought I had enough overlap, but as I mentioned, once I got in the water, I found that there wasn't quite enough overlap (yeah, I tuck glove under suit). Anyway, thanks again, I'll follow up if I find a solid solution.
Yea these are a little longer also saw at a surf shop that the Patagonia gloves look longer- but not sure, just checked them out quickly... Then saw the price... 80 bucks
