I checked out of Facebook after I made a funny comment about a photo on a friends timeline and he deleted it because it made him look like less of a superstar. His profile was about someone else that I didn't know, full of idyllic family photos, smiling wife and kids etc. Forget the fact that he had confided in me about their serious marital issues. After that I took an honest look at my own profile and realized that to some extent it was the same thing. The next day I unfriended everyone but still keep the page open to save pictures. I literally have no friends, lol.
The FB sh!t's really weird...however I do find it useful to keep in touch with friends out of state, and I get a lot of wildlife stuff in my newsfeed.
I've never had a FB page...it's The Devil. I just don't want to know how many 20 and 30 year old kids I've spawned unknowingly.
My wife and I dumped FB years ago. This is the only place on the Internet that I talk to people, period.
The only time I delete comments from fb is the morning after I drink bourbon excessively and they are always my own. Usually my fingers are crossed that mo one got up early enough to read my incoherent babble.
The problem is your finding out that they are all attention whores who are posting fluffed up pictures and waiting on the edge of their seat all day for a "like". I remember how proud the guy I mentioned in the other post was when a popular girl from high school liked a picture of him surfing. He was on cloud nine. I was thinking dude your 45 years old maried, overweight with two kids and unhappy and having a complete stranger like your picture makes you feel better about yourself? Something is f@cked up here.
The whole FB concept is farked up beyond most people's comprehension. It's a farkin marketing tool & the personal info that the morons post gets repackaged & sold. They're getting sold. Pretty simple. Technology is great until 'they' turn it against you & jam it up your arse. So to speak.
Well dude, how else corporate conglomerates are supposed to gather social trend information to later deploy via targeted advertising and make you believe that you deserve to treat yourself and spend the money on what they're selling? Be cool or be cast out bro.
plus, when you get caught committing a felony...exactly where does your newspaper/evening news photo come from? or worse, is your photo with a sexy smile going to be used in your obituary?
