+1 +1 all dem pool chems have turned me off. I swam for years at the university in town and the benefits to my surfing were huge along with skating. but the fried skin always smelling like chlorine chems etc.......I do miss it though. would like to get back but now the hours at the uni suck and the next closest pool is a high school that's not too close/convenient or the YMCA a couple towns away and the price is super high. something like a grand a year.
Try using a few drops of white vinegar in each ear for about 30 seconds or so after a pool swim. Kills everything.
Me too, but...when the man o wars are thick, or the spinners are feeding on the mullet run, it becomes necessary to tune up in the cement pond. I used to get sore throats and ear pain, the vinegar in the ear works good for me, and I use it when surfing inlets after a rain. Some folks like a mix of alcohol and hydrogen peroxide and glycerin, that's just too complicated for me.
Love swimming. Another idea is to swim free style with your head above water simulating paddling on a short board. Basically dog paddle free style as hard as you can plus kicking. Really works the core.
the other thing to do is paddle a few miles and more on a long board when its flat. If I'm in VB I paddle out to bouys and back. Serious core work
