http://www.wsj.com/articles/oil-spills-into-yellowstone-river-after-pipeline-leak-1421688172 "Late last year, Bridger Pipeline received a warning letter from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Administration, alleging that the company didn’t follow proper reporting procedures when it inspected the Poplar pipeline in 2012. The agency didn’t impose a fine. The company hasn’t filed a response with PHMSA and didn’t immediately respond to questions about the warning. In 2011, Exxon Mobil Corp.’s Silvertip pipeline spilled an estimated 1,500 barrels of oil into the Yellowstone River near Laurel, Mont., about 230 miles west of Glendive. Federal regulators levied a $1.7 million penalty against Exxon for the incident." Another report says the company didn't find and report the spill (contrary to the article above), local residents did after their drinking water smelled and tasted like oil. Said the guvmint\etc. got involved about an hour after that.
Lucky for us there's someone thinking ahead. http://www.vice.com/en_ca/read/that...r-machine-might-actually-change-the-world-185

Hate these types of reads (the book I'm referring to), but the 48 laws of power puts perspective on it. Basically, the captains of industry at complete psychopaths (American psycho-style). If not, they rationalize that people want and need the resource, therefore, this is part of the price for it. We as a people will keep our mouths' shut since it's "not in our backyard."
In 2011 63,000 gallons of crude poured into the same river. The Keystone pipeline will run across it too. unless O vetos.
