I'm just completely illiterate about this stuff. I follow KS on instagram and I can't even keep up with half the stuff he posts about food. If you mentioned Monsanto to me a few months back, I would think it's some kind of wine.

    Hole evil

My ex used to work for bread and circus..in boston...before whole foods swallowed them...
She was "selected" fro their manchurian mgt program...became.the store mgr in Palo Alto... ...before it drove her nuts..
The hypocrisy of the company ..especially makey..who literally thinks any new female hire anywhere in the company is his for his consumption..like an Austin Caligula..and Robb..he was the norcal reg mgt..at the time...a toady if there ever was
She eventually left...whole foods ..broken...stayed in Silicon Valley..
I went back to Santa Cruz..hating..seriously..
what company holds a retreat on maui...and doesn't even go near the water..let alone surf...
At dinner one nite Robb was trying literally tell everyone at a restaurant what to eat...that I had to"try"..the tuna tartar...I was like dude..i ain't in the mood for giant slab of sushi.....
I sent it back..had them put some more heat to it than the perfunctory Burger King grill marks...
He wasnt too happy...i invited him to try honulua bay with me...and my friends from the island...
    He no takey

Carry on....the post acl cocktail delusions are great..later..

Do you have a lawn? They're coming out with glyphosate resistant grass. You must be stoked, you won't have to limit your RoundUp use to cracks in the driveway. No more worries that your family is suffering from glyphosate deficit!

The computer you are using right this moment is made from oil products. So are your underwear, your dental products, pharmaceuticals, your makeup, etc.
And that bicycle you want to ride--it is oil derived as well. Its tires are....wood?? Nope- rubber.
In fact, based on the majority of your posts, your skull is full of oil as well. Not brains.
So go ahead--make an example out of me.

Oh, I almost forgot - the companies I presently am invested in--Monsanto, Dow, ADM, Shell, Noble Energy, Seadrill, plus a few pharmas. Eat your heart out. Then grab your hammer and saw (also made with oil) and go freeze yo ass of today. But don't worry--you will not see oil rigs off the coast of NJ just yet. In case you haven't read (can you read??), there is an oil glut at the moment. Great time to buy oil stocks, chemical companies. Load up!!
And, importantly for this site-- your surfboards are oil made as well.
My oh my......did you get passed 2nd grade? 1st!!??!!

I go through about 20 gallons of roundup a year but my original point was that many hysterics believe GMO SECRETES roundup.

Barry, let's not forget his wetsuits and surfboards..Hypocrite much?

Did Brad touch a nerve Barry? Calm down. There's a better way. Using oil the way we do lacks foresight. That doesn't neccasarily mean we need to abolish use of it. Going all in on oil, chemical, and Monsanto stock isn't something I'd be proud of, but hey, you're making money on it, and that's what matters most.

F*ck the people/planet-get money, is the widely accepted business model these days, and your right on par with it. Congrats on your success.

Actually, rad didn't affect me much--I like to post when I am bored.
You are partially correct, imho, we could use oil in much better ways. Do you have viable suggestions for better use?? Probably not, as most of us do not. Join the club
As for investing, I do trade, I do invest. I separate my trades and investments from politics, ethics, etc. Trades and investments are nothing more than a "vehicle to make money". Nothing more. If a person were to introduce morality and ethics into investments, as some do, they buy stocks in "green" companies; they either break even or lose money. That is NOT why I invest.
It is clear to me, those that begin investing at an early age, do better financially, provided they do not go wild eyed with it. It allows for earlier retirement, if one is interested in doing so. I retired at age 56; I began seriously investing when 30 yrs of age. Eight years have gone by since I retired--they went by fast. I am glad I am still surfing--early retirement allowed me to do so.
We each control our own destiny; every person chooses. I respect yours.

Are you using RoundUp for work or just around the house? 20 gallons is an awful lot if you are using it correctly around the house...

it's wacky that Agent Orange was brought up too. In a time of war when lives were being lost and gorilla warfare was handing us a huge disadvantage, our soldiers needed a way to gain ground. The dense tropical landscape hindered our efficiency at neutrilizing the enemy. We needed a defoliant, "Agent Orange." The long-term effects were not postulated, just like how abestos was used as a common insulater which we now know when friable can lead to mesothelioma.
Food for thought, Cancer does not discriminate and there are many forms and variables that contribute to the disease. I've lost 2 family members to it and I have another going through it now. Coke products have a low amount of Benzene, Meats have nitrates and other carcinogens, the sun's rays cause skin cancer, etc.
Monsanto is a company (period) - Agribusiness. Don't be so quick to jump on the hype wagon. Source where your food comes from and look at the big picture. p.s. Agriculture is not witchcraft

This is why I try to grow as much as my own vegetables from April through November. Kale, spinach, tomatoes, herbs, eggplant, beans, peppers, arugula, and trying to grow berries (birds suck, they eat em all). I use nothing but dirt, water, and manure. I keep pests away naturally by mulching properly. If need-be, some natural concoctions or dissolved dish soap helps with bugs. What factory farms are doing is terrible and greedy. There's nothing benevolent or altruistic going on. Profits rule. There will come a day when people wise-up and become accountable for what they eat/drink, but it will be out of necessity. People are pretty stupid, in general. They would rather save 500 bucks on their TV set rather than spending an extra 50 bucks a week on food to buy organic. Eventually, I will be full-blown hippie. I want chickens and bees too. Maybe goats eventually for milk and cheese. I need at least an acre (or two) in a pretty rural area for that.
