Got a 6'3 "step down" from Jamie. Rounded pin step up. Worked wonderfully this last swell. Until I rode into the reef. Gotta replace some FCS plugs :(

Ahhhhh, bummer. Mine's a 6'4" squash. I use it as a step up. I have a round pin 6'4" step up too (local shaper that quit and disappeared).

Never ridden one personally but I've talked to a few shapers about them and that's pretty much been the message, just in a nicer way lol I think Coil has the best tech but i'm bias since that's what I ride now. They are all the things you say FW is not. Quality, Durability, High Performance, Cutting Edge, etc. Debating my next board, I want to go shorter, like 6' or 5'11", good wave board.

Just saw this post. Don't take my word for it, do some research, if you haven't checked out their ride report blog, you should. They have a website too, although it's not that great and hasn't been updated in forever. Some new stuff has come out since, but gives you a good idea.

Ha... I wasn't trying to be dik bro.. I was just pointing it out.

It's funny that they still have Taj on there. He doesn't ride them anymore. He's on Lost

Andy did ride Tokoro's at Pipe and other heavy waves. Just like Mick. He rides DHD's all year then Tokoro's in Hawaii when it's big.
Andy rode HIC's as his standard short board and then switched from them to JS...

Again, not trying to be dik. I just remember that stuff for some reason.

The HIC/Arakawa deal is true. They even put out an Andy Iron "signature series", when he was riding them. Good Memory...I did not recall the switch to JS.

first of all if you surf , most likely you go threw boards every 2years or 3 if lucky .
if kelly buys fw and makes a board that feels right , durable , and a reasonable price .I would at least buy one to try it . I don't mind paying a little more for durability to make that board last longer , but not 300 $ more . I'm still skept about new technology , until it has proven to my standards . I own a few lib tech boards and their great fun boards , but doesn't compare to the M4 , the proton/step up or rookie , or even andy irons Hic template by eric for critical days .When bottom conture rails , tail and nose rocker matter . Not just a template . I won't buy firewire , i have seen to many de laminations , Libs says their dang tough , but not snap proof , seen a few of those right in half . With progression in your surfing , so should the boards shape , size , fins ,rails , volume , etc . Right board for the right conditions for the right price . Usually those garage finds are the best or your buddies that are collecting dust .

Yep I bought the company, thats me kelly, haha, ah god I love the internet. Anyway, yeah! We are a %150 fully recycable company, which means everything we use is recycled. The machines, the products, the equipment, our clothes, fins, pams farts ,etc etc. I am currently re-disgning the system of Firewire to be a more user friendly experience. Our surfboards are top notch, and each is hand signed by me! Yay! so buy my surfboards

...for the right surfer. I can't disagree with this. Yet, Al first...FW next, then Bic(kidding...making sure ya'll are paying attention!) made a market and many bought it.

The fact that you "sign" the board, will it make it a better performer?? Promise??

Right on Dsup. Coil is built right here in Merica and with better materials. The ESP they use is superfused. Small tight billets. FW uses huge, low grade billets. Like the styrofoam ice chests. Cheap. The decks are much more prone to crushing. Poor compression strength. The sheer strength of FW is slightly better then a Ecloth lammed poly board but so what. FW cloth and epoxy is from ching chong China. Coil gets those things here. Coil is way ahead of FW.

Dudes....stop claiming FW has great "technology". That building style is 30 years old and they do it on the cheap. Y'all be acting like they use angel tears and pixie dust. Wake up!

I dunno. Seems like a full time job just to keep up with all this Joe North Shore Oahu Aloe Vera rides that company, so it's gonna make ME shred like NJShred.

It's like my old Navy pool shark buddy used to say... If yer good, you can shoot with a pretzel. He always just took a house cue from the wall rack, then proceeded to take everyones cash.

I may just be ignorant, and thus filled with the accompanying bliss, but I don't think a lot of this factory A vs factory B really matters.

    just my $0.02

I'm not an industry guy, but... I didn't know they could superfuse billet foam. Why not pressure mold the blanks and eliminate the waste?
