Btw leashes are kinda expensive I hate buying them.

I broke my leash at 6 foot hermosa and 6 foot plus marias, the swim in is intense, the struggle is real, a mile open ocean is easier than those 100 yards in the impact zone

SIDE NOTE: I seldom agree with anything MISsy has to say but yeah, doing the dash in the impact zone is to be avoided at all costs. I got mad respek n braddahood for several of the Swellers cappin on dis cat who had the decent humility to post a memorial vid in self-deprecating comic fashion regarding his leash mishap, but how many of ma dawgs have had to do the Naval sidestroke 50-100yds to a jetty or end up a lost carcass at sea? Ain't fun bro. It's straight up cathartic and the reason I've not charged in over 20mph winter swell this year unless there are clean longer period lines.

Same thing in DOH plus Dominical (at the Point, not the main closeout beach) durning a clean up set at dropping tide. I was too far in and got worked. A long and treacherous swim, only to be ridiculed by my buddy for not using a new leash. I rode my step up 6'8" from then on, instead of my brand new semi-gun 7'4". I never rode it again. Too hard to duck dive, too big for me. It was put on consignment when I got home.

 

Worst swim in I ever had was a BIG winter storm day at Patrick's AFB... leash broke and the swim took forever. Ended up drifting what felt like a mile before I got in. I threw up on the beach.
