CDC reports on all mortality induced by vaccines for ALL ages. They get the data from the FDA and from the manufacturer both of whom are required to report "advesse events" to them as promptly as possible. The CD prints a Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) in which data for all sorts of events, disease outbreaks etc is announced to the general population.
You are right to have your kids immunized-it is the better part of wisdom.
As for pharma making billions, liam, they do not. In fact, pharmas DO NOT want to be involved in the manufacturing of flu vaccine because often time it is a losing proposition. They are required to make it by agreements with the government. For instance Merck used to make FLUAX years ago, but stopped making it in the 1980s when they started to make the 2 hep-b vaccines they made, as agreed with government. Then the task was assigned to others.
I worked in pharma for 35 years. Was fun, Would do it again in a flash. It was hard, tedious and long hours, but it was worth it.
    And so it goes...

I just got an insurance statement, and my insurance paid out $5 for my kid's flu vaccine. And it was given by a real doctor, so I have to think that most of that went to him.

I did not say deaths from vaccines. They do not track flu deaths from the illness in anyone but children and elderly. This is due to the fact that most deaths that are not children or elderly from the flu are caused by another underlying condition and not the flu itself. Here is the CDC site stating they do not track death from THE FLU in adults. They do get mortality reports from local centers and check death certs that show flu but they do not compile stats. Peds offices and hospitals do report child and elderly flu deaths however, at least here in NC.

Guys it's real simple. If you want to be healthy, don't get the flu shot, burn 1 spliff per day, drink a couple cocktails or a few brews, whatever you choose, exercise daily, f*ck daily, eat fresh high quality foods, not junk. Surf every week, be on the water doing other things too just enjoy it too it's fullest. Be a positive minded person. Don't stress and worry about every little thing and be a germaphobe and run out and get the latest "vaccine" to avoid the plague or whatever the new hotness is.

Do these things and I bet you'll be pretty damn healthy and enjoy life a lot more. Works for me, almost never get sick, when I'm surrounded by sick people passing it around, nobody gets it. I tell em it's the ocean but herb is a healer, I'm a believer of that.

Don't really know much about it other than what it is approved for, which any one of us can look up the data. Need to start taking it in first 2 day of symptoms or it is useless. Of interest, it may be useful if you know you had an exposure (banging hindi that were sick with flu??) to flu to lessen chance of infection. This seems like a borderline useful product to me, but, I know MDs that swear by it.

    Yours truly

Interesting, are you saying that agreements with government make pharma companies use more resources to make vaccines than focusing on other products? Also, are you saying they don't make money on flu shots even though almost the entire population gets them? I'm not being a smartass, I just wanted to know from someone in the industry. Does the govt actually buy reserve vaccines from pharma or who really pays the pharma company for making the vaccines?

Actually, Liam, I don't have the answers to all those questions. I do know that government pays ONLY for the vaccines it purchases. Often times, they have to dump it. Recall Swine Flu.
Pharmas can earn a profit, and yes, a healthy one, IF all goes as planned. Because this years flu vaccine, is NOT a very good match ( a strain emerged that is not covered adequately by the vaccine this year), I would not be surprised to hear that the manufacturers did not break even, or barely so.
Vaccines other than flu have a good profit, but it is normally a single digit profit overall, 8%-9% for example. Some may be higher. The reason for this being a better profit than flu, is because the viruses in other disease do not change their RNA/DNA as quickly as flu.
Federal government will buy vaccines, State governments do as well for distribution to Public Health who in turn distribute most of it to physician offices, free of charge. That does mean--we all pay for it. No doubt, our government system have evolved towards a socialism type of medical system, for better or worse. In communicable diseases, the concept is geared towards not allowing cost be the block for patients to seek immunization. I would add, that the only thing better for a populations health than a viable Public Health system, are sewers.

Good info there! Yes, sewers have helped eliminate the spread of viruses. I can't even imagine living in a time where there wasn't indoor plumbing and people just pissed/**** in the street. I read some history on London during a similiar time and it was some nasty ****. No wonders people were dying left and right.
