In Sicangu Oyate, the land of the Burnt Thigh Nation, I am known as Tatonka Hokshila. It is a result stemming from my first time in the buffalo pastures.

Off topic, I have a board in my shed I call Lola. She's stocky and rough around the edges but she made me feel good and I loved her.

Does this thread mean that, given your fascination with injun names, that you are going to vote for Lie-a-watha, a.k.a. Elizabeth Warren, injun squaw for Presidenta??

    Chicamacomico - Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo

I've learned thru working in the mortgage industry that all Special Native American Home Land Loan Programs are actually Govt. Funded Lease-Hold Operations in which the mortgagee never truly owns the land their house is on... we flipped da script and said we can't sell you this land, it's everyone's. yet we "own" it.
    word.

Most towns on the East coast are named for one of 4 things:
    Native American names
Famous founding fathers or Revolutionary War/Civil War generals
A version of the name of the town where they came form in Europe
    An English monarch.
Some cool town names in PA Amish country:
    Bird IN Hand
    Paradise
    Helltown
    Intercourse
    Kleinfeltersville
    Ephrata
My job site is out near there now. The food is out of this world.

The Spaniard Don Onate did bad things to Indians in New Mexico. After a particularly bloody affair, he enslaved huge numbers of natives and as part of their punishment cut their right foot off. 400 years later, a statue was built in Onate's honor in New Mexico. The night before the unveiling party, the ancestors of the natives cut the right foot off statue. And that's awesome.

The Loxahatchee River flows into the Jupiter Inlet from the west, along with the Indian River from the north. That's a two fers. Loxahatchee means river of turtles, and there are still lots of them upriver where the water is fresh to brackish. Lots of gators too.
