i'm aware they are made for large waves but is it possible to use them for anything else other than waiting for a hurricane to come? dimensions 7'4 x 18 x2 7/16 View attachment 14699
Are you able to travel some?? For some locations way from East coast, in shoulder high waves, steeper than most, it would be a fine board. Looks like a great board for Tres Palmas....
barry that board is too thin for tres palmas maybe outside steps hahaha @2 7/16 be good for overhead doggies or point tho
You know what, bagus, you could be right. I did not notice how thin it is. For me, 18 wide is way to narrow as well. That said, if the owner is a smaller dude than me (I am just under 6ft), maybe it will be okay??
ok i get it isn't a e coast board but there has to be some kind of ocean use for it here? cmon help me think of a use..maybe for beginners to learn paddling out? should be easier to paddle and duck dive? chop off project and reshape? straddle it grab a paddle and call it a gunayak?
Your right- A board like that is a pretty technical board. Only really good in certain conditions -much like any board. BUT it would not be good for a beginner. It's way to technical and will not work well in waves that a beginner would like. Now if it was a like a 9ft gun - like Roy's- that a beginner could ride. In fact it might take you some time to learn I ride that board well... Anyways- you gotta look at it like this- that board is like a sports car- doesn work well on a road with pot holes, but a race track is perfect. So that being said- it wouldn't work in mushy waves well. BUT if it's clean and barreling- it will be perfect. You could totally ride it anything above chest hi- as long as it's clean and barreling. Wave Size is not so much the matter- although it will not turn like a shortboard. But it will be super fast. So here's the best conditions- those days when the waves are super fast barrels and no ones making the waves- that's when you grab that board and laugh as you effortless make all the waves!
thanks what i needed to hear,,as a beginner myself,i then need to find someone who can use this,,anyone up for a trade??
its prob too late for this but that type of gun - with which nothing in general is wrong - has kinda been replaced with a newer model; as such there are many of those type of boards available second hand now. if one can tolerate the absurdity of owning one on the east coast and using it once every 3 years.... they should own one.
Haha baddy- I have something similar and use it about 3 times a year... It just kinda hangs in the basement. But for the days that I take it out- love it! As far as keeping not or trading it- try craigslist. Althought- from the looks of te board- it's been repaired and at one time broken in half. After that - boards really lose thier value cause they don't surf as well... The weight and the shape is all off... So it might only be worth 150 to 200 or so to the right person. I would suggest just holding on to it for those 3 days... Just take it out more often to learn to ride it.
there's no need to block out the left side of the picture. we all know you've got a huge bong set up on that table
Haha ...as far as damage there is only a small crack near the nose about 1/2 inch. The white area you see is I am thinking the original color white.. And the rest of the board has regular yellowing I'm thinking maybe the guy had a wraparound pad or something that prevented that area from being exposed to sunlight.. Not sure but I took all wax off I see no sign of repair...
Btw- is it just me- or does no one else notice that a thread that's actually about a surfboard only had like 12 replies all day- 3 of which was myself and 2 or 3 by the original poster? All the while other threads grow by 12 pages a day filled with totally non surf related material.. Actually ppl just arguing with each other
Well I appreciate any sincere replies at least it lets a newbie know what or what not to try and use etc....the sport will only grow if people care about the future of it and the future surfers. Thanks again I at least know it is not for me this year or even next more than likely so maybe it will find a home..
Yea frost- some how you got off easy. There is a guy on here (me) that always asks / suggest that if your new - you should start a 'hello' thread to introduce your self. Some how you passed the test- maybe cause you where friendly and humble and asked a real question. Welcome to swellinfo.com frost! Your pal, Mr Belmar
