looking for a good shaper in Maine for long and short . Thoughts ?? And please don't say grain those guys are tools
I've seen some nice boards come from the McDermott brothers... I plan on getting one from them in the next year
There is this guy up there who makes the best shapes around. Would be perfect for you. I'm not sure what label he is shaping under now-maybe channel islands... Idk... His name is roy tho
I've also heard from others that McDermott bros are legit .5 star are good as well but looking for local retro . I'll chck them out thanks
excellent guys to talk too/work with, tons of stoke at Black Point.... I haven't heard of any real issues with orders. Depending on how good the surf is, the turn around time is a couple weeks. The quality is good and the price isn't horrible, I think Longboards start around $900... I've seen some really nice sticks come out of their shop.
Charles makes some nice boards from what I have seen- he is a real craftsmen doing what he loves. Don't know if he does foam though..
Like I said no grain on multiple reasons . One : who the hell wants to pay like $800-1100 for a kit then pay and go to a class for 10 Saturday's ? Two they pilfered the designs from a cat they worked for then opened their on shop . Three .are they using "sustainable " resin, glue ? Four . Can't handle their silly little hipster get togethers .five . Rhode a few when they first started and they weigh a ton .5 all of the above .
Probably junk. IMHO, you are better to get a longboard from a maker such as Harbour, Gordon & Smith, etc. In the years I have been surfing, I never have anybody complain about them two. New England board builders are not up to par, yet. Maybe in the future. just opinion.
