paddled out at semi-junky sebastian inlet in the mid 80s with hardly anyone else out. There was a kid absolutely annihilating first peak...looked a lot little kelly.
"Hewey" is one cool cat. A great power surfer, he used to run Quicksilver/Roxy's surf camp in Sebastian when my daughter was a grommet. Very humble....but NOT FAMOUS! Unfortunately. I once was out with Buttons when he visited Singer Island durning the Wave Warrior Pro. He was out freesurfing with the crew, when one of the local idiots tried to scare him off the peak. That was hilarious, he just gave the guy a death stare and a smile, and it shut him right up. I see Peter Mendia and a few other pros out once in a blue moon, then I know I'm in way over my head. Time to find another peak.
I surfed with an old guy in Belmar one time.lol real story,i don't know who he was but he had to of been somebody special, but the guy was incredible, and im talking around 70 yrs old.i know I told this story on here before.this old guy made sam hammer look like ben gravy in the bay
