I may or may not have seen this board for sale somewhere... I may or may not want to offer about 275. Thoughts? Don't know much about the brand but know they have been around forever. Gordon & Smith 7'9" "vintage" (maybe?) surfboard
It looks pretty sweet but does it have fins designed by the iconic Chris? That would really up the value. At 275.00 I think you got a deal.
So true. If you buy it, please just remember What Iconic Chris says about caring for your fins "....Aviod a sharp cutting surface scratch...."
If Chris shapes G&S as good as his fins... Im set. Agreed but didn't know if anyone had the scoop on this one
I don't know jack about that board, but historically, I've been a sucker for old boards like that. You get it for under 3 bills, and it's in half way decent shape, you can't lose much on it unless you snap it in half. It's a G@S after all. You might fall in love with it, never know. If you can get it, why not. That's my 2 cents anyway. Now would Iconic Chris agree with me...I don't know. If he chimes in, ignore me and follow his suggestions. He is clearly an ICON
if you feel like you got a good deal, then fvck what everyone else thinks. Board looks like its in good shape from the pic. If you want it and got the money, why the hell not?
If you buy that board, once you surf on it, you are going to love that board so much, you will wish it had a vagina!!
looks more "retro" than "vintage" in the picture, I dunno. Looks like a great shape in very good condition from a manufacturer that usually has a stable of quality shapers. Unless that thing is all cracked, brown and leaking on the bottom, I'd say $275 would be a good bargain for that board. If you wind up buying it and find out that the board has a winged logo shaped by some guy named "Skip", it will probably be a piece of crap. Let me know and I'll take it off your hands immediately.
Picked it up for 160 w a 9inch fiberglass fin. Needs slight work but not much at all. SICK. love craigslist. Not sure how old it is. Retro vs Vintage... it only says 514 7'10" .... is that the 514th built.. no leash plug...? Im going to investigate. I knew the guy had no idea what was going on with the board. The add called the fin a "rudder." 7'10'' x 21.5'' rolled V to V in tail. Shape is almost like a Fowler if anyone is familiar.
$160 with the rudder? Awesome! BWM, you swindling bastard. If you take any more shots, of the damage etc, post em up. I'm wondering what the rails look like on the underside.
Man that looks like a nice board, you might have gotten away with robbery. A Greenough rudder will work great with that shape.
the damage is minor. Suncure and buff it out. Way less than I have dealt with in the past. Sweet color on this rig and contours. Single fin by Chris. I wanna throw a greenough flexie in there. edit. flexie rudder in there
