Wow. Just found out a kid I went to high school with just died from Xanax and alcohol... What a depressing thread this is... Sorry guys....

 

Xanax and alcohol is a legitimate time machine.

Start on your couch with a zanny bar and a 12 pack on a Friday.....next time you open your eyes...your sitting in the same exact spot... but it's Thursday, your broke, random girls phone number scrawled into your arm with a sharpie...full on beard, dirty fingernails... pants on backwards.. black eye, 2 different shoes on.. your cars bumper is gone and has a flat tire .....but it's definitely parked properly and in the right spot.

 

this is a good reason to not do drugs.

Nothing some selected serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs) can't help. Can't cope with reality? Wife, girlfriend, parents, etc don't want to hear about how miserable you are no more? Go tell your doctor. You'll get straightened-out with some SSRIs. Sure, you'll be sick to your stomach and sleepless for the first week getting accustomed to the side effects, but after that, you're on autopilot mannnn. Life's problems and stress will roll right off your back, like water on a duck. For a co-pay, you got primo pharma-grade "happiness".

 

Your rant is well taken, and well written as well. And thanks for it, because it does give us pause to think. I do not drink, nor do I do drugs.....anymore. Stopped 35 years ago when our kid was born. Like you, I have seen a lot of lives gone. Lost my 2 best friends to heroin (kids i grew up with in PR).
As for our lives sucking, they really do not. What does suck, is how we view our lives. And that is malleable--you can change that. Not easy to do because we have all been brought up with a hell of a lot of negativity around us. Although it sounds lame, it is an "attitude" change. That scene in Blues Brothers where the nun tell Jake & Elmore they have "bad attitudes" is hilarious. But true. Many are brought up in the same circumstances as we are, and yet do not feel their lives suck.

 

Led Zeppelin did great on drugs.

So has Charlie Sheen...

DaVinci did drugs

George W. Bush did drugs...

Oh, Salt, where did I glorify opiates/opioids?

I told people they feel great, yeah, but I also told of where they will end up...addicted to a substance that doesn't even get them high anymore, just to avoid withdrawals.

I think I said, "YOU will not beat dope." Something like that.

And if I want to "glorify" opiates, well, that's my prerogative. You guys glorify alcohol, and alcohol caused all of my past issues. You don't hear me whining aboot it. I don't expect people to walk on eggshells around me(i.e. avoiding mentioning BEER VODKA... I don't expect or want that).

yeah, those folks did well because they are very talented and/or geniuses, and knew the right people. and they were filthy rich too (GWB, rich boy). that helps. drugs or no drugs, they would have had some kind of success or fame.

yeah, crazy friends. i like to avoid those kinds of "friends" these days. they always wound-up asking me for money at some point. they were retards who partied too much and couldn't keep their sh*t together. a dime a dozen in the surf community, sadly. i like to consider myself a NERD/hard-working guy who loves to surf. i AM the minority. i could give two ****s about whatever anyone else is doing.

 

I will join you in that. The hard working nerd part, not the drinking (I gave that up as well).
And you are NOT the minority; that is what the abusers wish you to believe. You are, in fact, in good company. I feel sorry when I see or hear of a death due to drugs. But only briefly. They surrendered.

 

Salt you know that alcohol is a drug, which actually is the most destructive, mind-altering substance on earth.

You have the same intentions when you hit your beer fridge as the junkie does as he/she hits Hope St in Philly.

Sobriety bores me. I am not easily amused.

Never used to kill pain or emotions. Was never abused by neighbor or uncle. None of that stuff.

The key to drug use is simple in theory but not practice - MODERATION

I dig how the drinkers feel that they don't use "drugs." I dig that stuff.

Coke is no big deal...all mental, and this stuff you hear aboot how addictive crack is misleading. A crack habit ain't much in the large picture.

Dudes who smoke rock don't wake in the morrow going nuts or getting sick.

Coke is "ADDICTIVE" as heck ACUTELY, when you just did your last line or blast. Then for the next 30-60 minutes people will sell their soul for more unless they are smart and have something to settle that down(i.e benzo, opiate, large quantity of booze)

Most powder coke users aren't addicts.

Most crack heads are the dudes who just put your roof up or fixed your sink. They work, come home and blast off.

Yeah the billion dollar, coke-industry isn't financed by the homeless guy begging change. It's financed by your neighbors and coworkers.

As I said the whole world is on drugs.

lol I must of missed that one,i cant keep up with all the posts,to busy trying to score lids.its all cool,weed is an anti depressant,its the alcohol thatll make u suicidal.when the salt kicks the bucket il bring the snails.snails on rails.

alcohol is the only drug that can kill u from detoxing.i seen a show on drugs think it was called "drugged" on nat geo and the alcoholic,they had this poor dude in horrible shape,he ended up dying on the show.if they would've just let him keep on drinking he would've been around for a few more years.

also I recently saw a herion segment on bryan gumbel real sports lol.fuched up,they had some kid that was brain dead from an od,pretty sad.they need to show shyt like that more often.but u know herion doesn't kill you,only an overdose will.and dope really doesn't have any negative effects on your health.just look at ray Charles that guy shot dope for 70 yrs and lived to be in his 90s.being poor and on dope is the only harmful thing because u cant afford it,get sick,shoot 12 bags and nod off into the abyss.then they had the nerve to say painkillers are the gateway drug.no thats where the gateway takes u to.once u do dope there is no high greater.

Hey man, I gotta break up the day as I save the world at my job. Swellinfo is a great way to turn the brain off and, like, kick it with my cyber homies and what-not.

 

I don't do drugs,i do smoke reefer and it does make me happy.some people come home from work and have a 6pack,I on the other hand choose to smoke a blunt.i do not abuse it,i don't smoke all day,i take a few hits,clip it and spark it an hour later.considering I come from a family where my mothers half is alcoholics,and my fathers half were junkies I think im doing well.i quit pot many times.its not addictive so its not that hard.its in my blood,a few family members died of alcohol related illnesses,one died with a bottle in hand.and its not like oh u smoke weed so your on your way to the harder stuff.well im a grown little boy,been smoking for lets say 15 yrs.i started smoking before my brother,and my brother went from weed,to alcohol,to coke,to crack,and finally graduated with the needle.

prison is the best thing for addicts.i know for a fact my brother would be dead if he didn't get the years he did in prison.my brother in law,which iv talked about him many many many times on here,finally got caught by his sister in the bathroom with a needle and bottle cap after hearing the tap tap tap.I told her for years he was getting high,didn't want to believe me.she broke down to him and said il get u the help u need,he said no.some people just want to get high,nothing u can do.its sad but hell be dead in a year or 2 if he don't kick
