well i am being forced to move to key west. i will not get to see waves unles i travel. what a bummer. anybuddy heard of surf on the other side of the the bahamas
think about it this way, you are a very short and inexpensive trip to central america and caribbean breaks. Plus, your in key west... what are you doing there?
yes, at spots called "indicas", and "surfer's beach", look 'em up @ www.wannasurf.com it's been going off there from this big NE swell.
Ive seen some vids of people surfing down there. Im not exactly sure what the technical name for it is but apparently there are some small islands (sandbars, reefs, keys, whatever you call it) that are submerged at high tide that fetch a decent break. Looked more like a longboard wave from what I saw. Probably need a boat to get to it. Bring your board anyway- where theres a will theres a way. Spent a week down in Key West a few years ago. its a ton of fun if you've never been down there. Duval(sp?) street was a party the entire time. one night they closed down the road and had a free outdoor concert. Pretty awsome. oh- and i dont think they have open container laws down there either.
ahhh.. must be a coastie. Key West must be an awesome duty station. I stayed at the Navy Lodge when i was down there. There were a few sketchy nights getting through the gate when we would barely walk.....
yeah, i'd rather surfing a nice wave between atlantic beach and cape lookout. but, i guesss paddle boarding flat water and spiney lobster will have to do til i get some waves...
