So then, your answer is run for office. Envy will get you nowhere.
BTW, that computer you are typing on - oil based product.

I'm running for Minister of Bull $hit. And my computer could be made from wood, recycled aluminum, and tree resin, if the oil cartel wasn't so omnipotent.

Beats me. I do know that sound waves travels thru water better than air.
    read this,
    http://www.nrdc.org/wildlife/marine/sonar.asp

If sonar fugs them up, the schitt they're blasting to penetrate the bottom every several seconds probably is a lot worse.
It is reported that the You Ess has such an oil glut, there's no place to store it. Why the rush to get it? When is enough too much? Hmmmmmmmmmmm?

Why would anyone want to put oil wells in a place called "the Graveyard of the Atlantic"?
Back in the late 80's early 90's, the navy was going to test what an electromagnet does to ship electronics off the coast of Va and NC. I was crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and saw what looked like a guy in a row boat pulling a house. I pulled over at the 1st island and when it got closer it was a frigate pulling something that looked like an oil derek. I went to Corolla that weekend and while out, a big turtle surfaced next to me, let out a woeful moan, rolled it's eyes, and sank.

Yes sound does travel very well thru waer but would not then be heard on land. I am not saying that sonic testing would not harm marine life, I'm saying that in the link you posted there is no evidence of the fish kill or dead dolphin being the result of sonic tetsing, and the sonic event menitoned was a jet breaking the sound barrier not "big oil" testing for reserves.

No one is arguing that we need oil. Many can't understand why we would risk the east coast for such a small payout whan there are plenty of safer areas in the US to drill.

    That is Archy's job.

How do you know for sure it is a small amount? Right now they are looking to research and see how much is there. If it turns out to be so little that it is not economically viable I'm sure they won't drill.

I woudl prefer the Keystone pipeline and others like it and just bring it in form other locales vs offshore drilling too but then all the folks in the central US said don't do that in my backyard same as we here on the EC are saying not in my ocean. If everyone says that and no one wants to go take over the middle east where should we get the oil from?

PS My vote is to bomb the Middle East off the map and take all the oil/other natural resources we want and as an added bonus we get craploads of hot Hindus!

The Bureau of Ocean Mangement (BOEM) estimates 4.7 billion barrels of oil from for the entire east coast. Which is a small fraction (roughly 4% ) of the oil resources available in the US. The east coast is heavily populated and growing in numbers yearly. I don't think it makes sense for the, ahem, greater good to risk another deepwater horizon situation. Jusy my.02.
