what country has been around for 5k years? none

the nation state is a NEW (500 years) thing
every nation state is comprised of smaller regions glued together, look at Spain and the basque separatists, Italy Greece, etc, all the same schit, small city states yoked under one 'gvt' . Iraq has different regions, each country has areas that are BEGGING to be their own smaller country.........states and empires come and go, people and societies stay. to force people into a collective is amoral

the thing about human is relations is that they change, the modern nation state is new, and it will give way to something else...one world superstate? or variety of smaller communities.

    time will tell

as organizations get larger, they become less manageable and accountable

please don't conflate society with gvt. one can have a great society with no gvt if all members are accountable

MIS-13, I know you have been not initiating any dialogue which is good, but...

I have to ax: Why do you have this belief that people are going to all bond together and do "the right thing" without any laws/government?

    It will never happen.

It reminds me of a Southpark episode where people revolt against our modern society/government...

And then they find out how much this old centralized government provides necessary services.

And then the new utopian society realizes this, and begins forming trash pick-up and policing services.....etc.

And wallah, they start creating exactly what they claim to despise - a centralized government that coordinates services necessary for the good of mankind.

Y'all can say what you will against politicians, but they aren't in Congress saying, "Ok, how can we screw the average Joe today." They aren't.

Most of their actions do have what they think is the best course of action for our country. Some may be correct(democrats), some may be incorrect(republicans).

Really, most of these NO-GOVERNMENT types wouldn't last a month in a state of anarchy. Even that proper, nice definition of anarchy. There's too many "evil-dooers," to quote GWB, out there. Too much greed, envy, desire and other negative attributes so often found in people.

Having "No Consequences" just opens-up a life of "criminal activity" towards a whole population who kept themselves in control due to possible reprimands for their actions. Anarchy does not allow for any sense of law and order. No, it doesn't. Maybe you don't realize some of the people out there, and what they are capable of. If so, good for you for avoiding these types.

you are saying that in a leaderless society there are no consequences, this is an illogical argument

I have faith in my bothers in sisters in humanity.

    you do not

I think that speaks volumes about our respective characters

Definitely when I don't get my political analysis from Swellinfo posters, I get it from South Park episodes.

I don't have faith in my fellow humans because most of them can be riled up into a frenzied pack with ease.

Your utopian ideals are enviable guys, but in your anarcho-commune world, at some point, a leader is going to rile up his local pack. It is inevitable because humans are malleable pack creatures that evolved in the behavioral economy of small family structures; not unlike dogs.

There may be social accountability without 'a leaderless society;' but people will form organized packs to combat other organized packs. Then we're just at the beginnings of the society we have now, only a few hundred years behind. You know, Medieval European city-state style (brutally violent and inefficient).

I agree that we need to protect ourselves from the leadership itself but anarchy is not the answer.

P.S. If you pledge allegiance to my pack I promise you shall be spared

I don't have faith in humanity in general, but I tend spend time on a few conspiracy discussion forums. The amount of crazy out there in the world is scary. We are talking about people threatening to take down passenger jets because they are afraid of clouds. People ready to bomb medical research facilities that create vaccines. I know some of you on this forum believe in any and all CTs, but I feel like at least the community here is fairly non-violent. Take away authority, and these people will have no reason to hold back. But I don't think a thread about the douchebag Ted Cruz is the right place to discuss government vs anarchy.

slashdog, they will organize, but how much more moral is voluntary organization and voluntary charity?

stealing from me via taxation to fund a police state is rather horrible, its not 'round up into camps' horrible, but if I am going to remain constant, I will recognize there is a better way, and try and discuss that way and try and live that way

its really hard to live my own life on my own terms in the current system, but I make it happen

Ah, you think you're better than Matt and Trey? Well, you aren't. They know all and have it all figured out. Just like me.

And actually any other group of people brought together by a recreational pursuit would probably have less-informed participants.

Remember there are plenty of people in Georgia(the state) who were looking for Russians coming down the street when Russia attacked the country, Georgia. Yep, plenty of them types out there. If you must discredit our group, then I challenge you to play Jeopardy with me. Or have a public debate aboot any topic. I'll tame that snarkiness, I will.

Some of you think you can survive without ANY government?? HAHAHAHAHA!!
Have you not read some of the threads in this forum?? Even here it's "Lord of the Flies", imagine across the USA. Small government is good; large sucks---it is all about balance.
The Balance of Power in the USA is, so far, the best solution...when it works and when you don't have one of the three trying to by pass the other two, such as use their "pen and phone".

Immeasurably so; but we cannot forget that, for most people, morality itself is bound up in the same hierarchical systems of power and judgement that our government is. This is largely why we have such a Puritan approach to sexuality and criminal justice.

In a world where everyone was a humanist, with sound egalitarian morals, your ideals would more achievable.

But we live in a world of fundamentalist righteous wackjobs, as Brew mentioned, and it is important to realize that our government is more successful, even morally, than the religiously dominated orders that preceded it (Spanish Inquisition, Salem Witch burnings, Saudi Arabia today).

In the Amazon, I've witnessed firsthand how sustainable, peaceful, and loving that small communities can be. But even there, the Christian missionaries had long ago turned the community in their favor, and I wonder how terrible it would be to grow up as a gay child.

I don't want government as it is either, but it protects us from the wackadoos.

MIS, why do you have such faith in humanity?

    Sheltered life?

Lost in a cocoon of Hawaiian paradise?

I'm not trying to be snarky here, but why in the world would you have faith in humanity to "do the right thing?"

Do you know some chick around these here parts set her kid on fire in the middle of the street a few months ago. Everyday blacks in Camden rob people brandishing Pump's favorite Ruger that they stole from him last month. A lot of them like shooting people. They angry, MIS, theys be angry.

Wow, you sound almost religious with the peace and goodwill stuff.

Stop paying taxes. Manco and Manco's don't pay taxes. Neither does Wesley Snipes and that b!tch from The Fugees.

Federal prison is fun, MIS. Shoot for one of them white-collar, camp-fed places. Very nice. Start an overseas corporation.

well just phrase your answer as a questions............. I will take shart-huffer for 1000 alex

a little sheltered, grew up in middle class family, went to high school, played sports, etc, I have seen quite a bit though, traveled a lot, talked to a lot of people, and well, I cant jive with anything that is illogical

    gvt is illogical
we tell kids not to hit, yet we make a bunch of rules and blue costumes that allow some people to tackle and assault others based on strange customs (you sold a loose cigarette...GET HIM!)

Living in a voluntary society without rulers where everyone engages in the non-aggression principle (NAP) has never been tried.

    a man can dream......
