well on the plus side if a city is going to build a pier its good they thought of waves and surfing..most cities just dump a lotta sand onto the beach and screw up the waves
Why not? It takes pressure off the other spots. When they built the new Juno Pier, Singer Island's main two breaks became way, way, way less crowded. Plus it puts $$$ into the economy - jobs, retail, events. Everyone's gotta eat. Only downside is if there is reef or endangered sea grass on site, which in Cocoa Beach I do not think it is an issue. And the worms create a mitigation for whatever destruction initially occurs. The worms always do.
Nice audio. Most be a radio shack mike.lol Well if you're gonna build a pier might as well make it as useful as possible. Having said that the jetties built in the Charleston harbour are believed to be responsible for accelerating the erosion of Morris Island and Folly Beach. There were a couple more streets on Folly not so long ago. If I were a resident of Coca Beach how the pier would affect beach erosion would be my main concern.
