I did a board repair on a Christenson twin fin recently. Racy, foiled out, just an incredible looking board that didn't seem like it had a speck of foam or curve out of place. Like it was shaped by nature in a wind tunnel. FLOWING!
Yeh I'm a big fan too. Currently riding a Pavel quad and a bigger quad with Speed Dialers shaped by Hank Warner (used to shape for Caster). If you don't already know about Mandala, google him (Manny Caro) and check out his work...fkn Artist. But, like I already stated, not too much can beat "Home Grown". If there's a good local shaper, talk to the man.
I bought a Cloud9customs cicada a few weeks ago. Fun wide board. 5'10x 20 3/4" Shaped out of Long Island, east coast specific. Enjoying it in everything under 6ft. I recommend it to anyone looking for a daily driver. He can get you a custom done in two weeks. Also just prodealed a lib tech air-e-ola. Got it cheap and want to see what all the fuss is about. Reviews look good, and its important these days to have a durable back up that can work in all conditions. Should be here this week, will review once its here. Heading to CR monday morning, was going to fly boards out but the airline wants too much money, will be buying and selling back or renting there.... hoping to get on one of those shred sleds for the duration of the trip.
Let me see if I have this right....all of you guys that whine and complain about "corporations" are now going to a "corporation" named "Coil IINDUSTRIES" to buy a board???? HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAA!! That is clearly "the" definition of hypocrisy.. It is okay to buy from anybody you wish, but do not complain then about those who do similar with other companies, which is my point. And btw, they are "oil based"......they are not "green" or "organic" ...... Enjoy your "industrial" boards, boys!! hahahahaha!!
O Barry, you should probably hold off on posting until after you've taken your medication in the morning.
I grow mine in my back yard, in a raised bed of foam, generous amounts of fiberglass, and "watered" with resin and oil!!
this would seem to be the case. barry - i can buy anygoddam board i want; politically, recreationally, eco or non-eco. my pursuit is simple; function. whoever has that has ( i think) a good shot at my cash.
Awww, do I hear violins playing?? That makes me soooo happy!! And do not forget-- you had the opportunity to tell me that on a computer, an "oil based" product.
Coil consists of two rad guys from FL. Just because their business name includes the word "Industries" does not make them a corporation.
of course you do. and, of course, it doesn't work that well. i can take or leave corporate america. my complaints were about behavior, not corporations yea or nay.
Smart man. I enjoy whipsawing all these "young ones" with it, because most, but clearly not all, are the "anti-prosperity" types, complaining about oil, banks, wealth, pharmas, vaccines......all the while enjoying the benefits of those products. Having said that....and now, we return to the original topic of the thread....baddys new board shopping spree!!!
since we're on the subject - and don't worry - barry (OUR PRESIDENT HAS THE SAME NAME) won't be trying one. are they a big corp or a backyard operation or....what? if you florida types say they got product i believe. never much cared for the state but ALWAYS had a healthy respect for their rippers......even so long before kelly showed up but he' also a good example. (back in jersey; talking to friends)...."they talk funny but fock they got some good surfers."
They're talented shapers who make incredibly durable customs. Tell them what you're looking for and they'll tell you what you need. I have two boards that were shaped by them and I couldn't be happier. The wait time is pretty long though; 3-4 months.
