I felt today is an appropriate day to bring this to attention. It seems as if most people on here are not very religious, with the exception of Wayne the insane and a few others. Now, I'll admit, sometimes to the religious militant pushing their agenda down people's throats I can be a tad condescending and disparaging. I try not to, honestly, but sometimes I really can't help it because they can be extremely smug and arrogant themselves. My questions here is, why is it ok for people of faith to preach their beliefs, but when I speak logic and rationality and my belief (I'd consider myself agnostic) I am called ignorant and rude. This doesn't seem fair to me. Agnostics and atheists are looked down upon for the most part. Could you imagine an atheist running for president? HA! He wouldn't have a chance. And that, my friends, is against why this country was made. Freedom of religion. it's really not right, and it ticks me off pretty bad.
Why would it bother you ? Who gives a rats ass what anyone other than yourself believes? Dude, on the rizzeal just be who you want to be and believe or not believe only the insane will try to move you one way or the other..
I guarantee you that there are far more people that are religious and believe in God on this forum than there are non religious. Just as in the electorate at large there is a strong and silent majority that are smart enough not to come on an Internet forum of little or no consequence and flail against people who's soul purpose is to antagonize for the sake of antagonizing. Starting a thread eeking affirmation in a group of people that believe as you do does not make you stronger, smarter or better able to stand up later. It lulls you to sleep and you will wake up unprepared. The Jews have survived for so long because they have been tried throughout history. The Christians have also had their share of trials. This modern and currently popular atheistic, antitheist, agnostic, progressive, socialistic, humanist movement has never been tested in anyway and will from every indication fold like a daisy in a strong wind if tested by a determined force. I would say you had better hope that the test comes from a belief based on love and compassion rather than some other hell bent on slaughter and destruction.
Hey, guy, I'm not seeking affirmation here. I'm starting a conversation and getting others people's opinions. I love being antagonized, because I do a fair share of it myself. Now, as to your point of being tested, and hopefully by a loving natured belief system, I'm not sure that really matters, friend. Christians and Jews are being slaughtered by Muslims everyday in the Middle East right now and have been "tested" for 2,000 years. So, I'm not entirely getting your argument, butthole.
Human beings are weak of character & they are malevolent. Ergo, inherent problems begets rationalizations, excuses, justification, finger-pointing, invention of mythical beings who 'solve' intractable problems, devising a hierarchy, invention of moral superiority & of course gender-based superiority complexes. Also known as 'religion.'
Hey, metard, no clever cartoon for this one? Just a lousy, unlaughable response? Come on, dude, I expect better from you. You're losing your touch.
Yea, Yankee! I knew I always kinda, sorta liked you, man. It really blows my mind that people still believe in this stuff. I mean, we didn't even know what lighting, thunder or other natural things were. So, we attributed it to some bearded hombre in the sky. But, today? When we know so much more about the universe we live in? Evolution, cosmology, physcis, we have made leaps and bounds of progress in these fields. Why do we still believe in such petty things?
prob same reason confeds rally around the don't tread on me, or homosexuals/lesbians organize, or naacp, any special interest groups do their thing, or whatever...general insecurity for the naive/ignorant, but really $$$ to those that, whatever, i give up...just go listen to DK. those that don't care are just better at being smug
^^Because our social programming still teaches us that 'faith', aka belief in fairy tales and mythology, is a virtue. Good people believe in gawd. If you don't believe in gawd, why you must be some sort of gawdless communist or something.
The two things never to be discussed in any open forum are "religion and politics". There will never be an understanding. Enough said.
Yea I hear you man,but most of the world's problems start by on ripping on others beliefs. Being a surfing community here, at least we can have that in common without dragging each other through the slop. May be fun for some but not for others.just agree to disagree and
Live and let live, brother. Don't put anybody down for their beliefs, or lack thereof, and everybody's gonna get along just fine.
