for the record seldom seen seems to be making sense w/respect to his postings....
    that cancer cell analogy especially.

not too long ago there was a science convention in europe where all participants were warned
not to discuss the "cancerous" aspect of humanity. seems it led to chaos.

got it.... I got side tracked mid post. Reminds me of that old movie Jeremiah Johnson when he fought off the pack of wolves with the butt of his gun. Definitely a controversial and complicated issue. Endangered species should definitely have some protections and on the other hand, I don't want to ever have to fight off a pack of wolves in my back yard because they are attacking my dog (livestock, kids, etc).

What's the stuff brewing with the public lands? (you have me intrigued man!!!)

That's the thing man...guys like him drive the hype train that results in crazy legislation. I have no issue with people defending themselves/loved ones/property/etc...

as far as the public lands...one issue is this "Sportsman Act" they're trying to push through...basically gives major priority to consumptive over non-consumptive users of Federal land, favoring trapping and other minority practices over what the majority wants the land to be used for.

There was just a rider that gave a bunch of Apache land to some mining firm(against the wishes of the people)...potential Uranium mining in the Grand Canyon...just land grabs galore lined up. I could be more specific and post links if you're intersted.

I'd also like to state, as I have before, that I have no issue whatsoever with people hunting for actual meat.

what about population control? When I used to hunt, the fox population exploded and decimated the rabbit and pheasant populations.

    Why'd the fox population explode?

I'm ok with pheasants being stocked to hunt, but as an introduced species their numbers in the wild shouldn't really be an indicator of the health of an ecosystem.

And pump, the thing is, with wolves especially, population control is nowhere near an issue yet. The guys making the most noise are the ranchers and the guys that don't want to get off their quad to find an elk.

And honestly, I understand the need for compromise. If a guy is out for deer, has a wolf tag, and gets an opportunity...I could live with that. It's the trapping and snaring(and poisoning compliments of the USDA) that are a greater threat.

good point pumpy, it takes some good maths to predict the optimum balance of predator/prey relationships, even then the food web is not linear, low value prey items will supplement a predator if the high value item is gone

Seldom- great Abbey quote, but dont tell an economist you are against growth
what cracks me up is that our financial system and economy functions on infinite growth, it suffers if growth stops...so we need to keep growing infinitely....within the confines of a finite system. this is sheer lunacy

and bubonic, you seem right on, we will see

towlie, youre the worst character ever

they blew up because there was nothing to kill them off. Then it go so bad that the state started varmint programs to start killing them en masse.

...thanks for summarizing. I can search it for more deets. All of our natural resources have been commoditized.

I agree on the hunting for meat.

Can I use this logic to handle the population explosion of human beings post WWII?

    "No, it's ok, officer/judge, Pumpmaster told me I could....on Swellinfo.com.....

Oh it's a surf predictin website....we all spend all of our workdays on the message board, while the owner of the site refills his pool.

Yeah, I know !! He has a pool... and a dog, your honor. He sells Russian, Thai and Muslim women online."

Well, guys, if you got any legal problems just start saying this place made you do it and maybe you'll get some mental health treatment instead of prison. Oh yeah, Reagan closed all of those places years ago so the rich could get added tax breaks.

As Baddy's favorite lead-man said, "Meat is murder."

    Whoa.

Ted should start doing dope to reinvent his music career. As we all know any band worth a penny has at least one member with issues.

Ted was in the Damn Yankees. Remember that. Very gay band. Very gay.

Ted hates drug users but applauds underage sexual conflict. Anyone who becomes the legal guardian of the teen he's sexing is a bit creepy.

    Ted's so macho, though, huh?

Hunting sucks. Well hunting animals does. Just go to Shop Rite or Publix or Food Lion. Or better yet call your local pizzeria. Hunting acorns is ok. Killing is killing.

going to disagree with the Reagan comment...In 70s California, mental health advocates lobbied successfully to make it very difficult to forcibly treat mental illness. Based on that, the mentally ill could not be forced to remain institutionalized and were released..with no-where to go.
