pretty damn funny. Can't imagine anyone believing Morrissey could be straight (or even bi)...especially a fan of your magnitude. Have you ever listened to The Smith's lyrics?...almost all of them have gay references of some sort (Charming Man, Headmaster Ritual, etc)...or they're so vague, you can insert either gender. Even all the album covers are photos of young male models. Any references to women are shallow. (oh, and fyi, micheal stipe is also gay)

Bowie started during the first wave of "glam" rock (Queen, Sweet, etc). So, yeah, some of that was marketing, but, obviously, a lot of it is his natural mannerisms. afaik, none of Bowie's lyrics make gay references.

    all that is true.
a LOT of it was/is marketing.

in morrisseys' autobiography he tells of a love-affair with a woman.
    i was shocked!

but, you're right h2obaby...his refs to women are hardly complimentary.

The Smiths were HUGE in SoCal. Gay or not, the hottest girls loved Morrissey and I got laid countless times with their music playing as white noise in the background.

    (excerpt from his autobiography)

David Bowie: i've done so much sex and drugs i'm amazed i'm alive.
Morrissey: i've done so little sex and drugs i'm amazed i'm alive.

Saw a ton of shows in the 80' and most of the "new wave" bands had zero stage presence.

Oh, and I like popcorn too Blasters.

only shows I saw in the 80s were Billy Idol (Rebel Yell tour) and the B-52s (Whammy tour)...oh, and, while I was drunk, someone talked me into seeing f*cking Jimmy Buffet. "Margaritaville", "Cheeseburger in Paradise" and "come Monday" are fine on the radio, but can you imagine sitting through a whole concert of that sh!t?...hated every second of it.

B-52s show sucked, too: theater was all fixed seat, so everyone was standing/dancing between the cramped seats...plus, we had "nosebleed" tickets and all I could see were ants on the stage.

The Idol show was fantastic. No stupid seats, I was front row...standing right under Steve Stevens!

B52s trigger memories of the first time I went surfing after partaking of the sacrament at 15. Also the first time I had heard them. Saw them in a packed small club in Athens with hot chicks galore. One of the best times of my life. Can't say I love their music but they sure were good luck for me!

Back before the internet when you learned guitar you had to get some one to show ya chords and stuff. The dude that showed me the basic cowboy chords loved Buffet. I did not but it was a means to an end. Jack Johnson is the new Buffet.

I saw 100s of shows in the 80's from classic rock, punk, new wave alternative ect. I enjoyed most shows even if the bands were not my favorites. Couldn't stand venues that had assigned seats WTF. Cowboy Junkies (90s)was the most pretentious boring show I've ever seen hands down. They had everybody sit down on the nasty Music Farm floor and be quiet. I was with a chick who wanted to see them but after they started I decided it wasn't worth it.

    Knophlers plays guitar like Butter.

We had a venue called The Music Farm here that brought a lot of bands thru before they got too big for clubs. Most shows were under ten bucks. The Meat Puppets actually had one of the best shows I have ever seen there. They had nights for local bands, usually three a night, which was hit or miss but always fun. One night I was in a band playing there and as we were waiting in the green room with the other bands we were parting hard. I could tell the singer dude was all nerved up. They were a 3 piece at their first gig. The drummer and bass player took the stage and the singer/guitar player came out and stumbled up to the mic and proceeded to projectile vomit into the crowd. He then ran off stage not to return. We went on next. Still one of the funniest things I've seen at a gig.
