Let's hear it from those who know why the south swells are so celebrated. I've seen a handful of really good swells down there, but not a straight south of the huge variety. Anecdotes are welcome. It's been large there lately on this S. http://www.theinertia.com/surf/why-...al&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
They tend to bring lefts to a state that is full of rights. The lines are longer and more well-defined. The water is usually warmer. Warmer = friendlier. South swells signify Summer. Summer = unbridled debauchery and freedom. Longer periods = more power. Some spots, many "classics", break only (or best) on Souths. Others which break on different swells show different faces which are welcome. Unfortunately, strong south swells are usually accompanied by strong rips and currents...but you take the good with the bad.
i don't have anything to add except im a jealous, angry, wave starved old man. But glad for those who charged it this week
I like south swells. It's a different energy. Powerful, compared to the everyday average wave. I think people get excited because they know they'll be pushing their own limits. Maybe getting the wave of a lifetime. When realistically, it's probably gonna be the beating of a lifetime. It's a gamble. what a f.ackin rush!! I drove to Newport last year the weekend before Marie. It was huge. Got two ass beating close outs and was done. Scary, but exciting. Can't wait for the next one!
Because there is nothing like watching a pro surfing contest at the Honeyting Pier during a Chewbacca swell. It is the Holy Grail of the surfing experience. Have you ever been to the Topanga Mall in June? Plus, as Kid mentioned, them So Cal water temps rise from a frigid 55 to a balmy 65. Zuma Beach, dude, hotdogs and hamburgers. "AHH, THE GREAT OUTDOORS." (Strawberry)
Yeah I figured you get that one, Kid. Actually I wasn't really sure how to spell chubasco. So I went with the given Chewy. Man, I wish I was not in Southern California, La Brea Tar Pits aside, but I wish I was in the Pacific Northwest. Hey Kid, you know who Strawberry is? But yeah, the PNW, man..... "AHH THE GREAT OUTDOORS !!" (Strawberry).
I wouldn't have gotten it without Peajay. Once he gave me a hint, I remembered that Skerrit played some scary tweaker-like dude in one of the Cheech y Chong flix. Funny!!!
Well done PJ, you handsome devil, a box of Cracker Jacks for you. And another one for knowing such detailed info, like, I didn't know the dude's real name. He plays Cheech's cousin in Up in Smoke - The best stoner movie ever. Their other movies not so good, but this one is a classic. Please people don't confuse Cheech Marin with our Virginian Cheech, who does get his weed stolen by ghosts, which is kind of Cheech and Chongish.
Stacy Keech ? I think. Toyota Kawasaki: So what are you(cops) expecting to find today? Sgt Stedenko: Everything... uppers, downers, wackers, crackers whatever they got we want them Toyota Kawasaki: Do you anticipate any violence happening here today(during their big bust)? Sgt Stedenko: I certainly hope so. And how advanced was that playing on the West Coast Asian TV news personality? Toyota Kawasaki !! AHHH THE GREAT OUTDOORS !! Hey, younger stoner types, go watch Up in Smoke
Their second best. But just not in the league of Up in Smoke, in my opinion, which we all know by now is synonymous with fact. Everything I think is right, just and correct.
It should be noted that I don't know the phone # of the phone I'm on right now but I knew a strawberry quote. That's how good that movie is.
Hey I just really comprehended your avatar, God I hate using that term. Anyways, What's Happening, wow what a show. OMG, Roger's sister didn't play around, huh? That show helped PJ become the racial ambassador that he is today....... Hey Hey Hey
