People who live on golf courses down here are nuts. They spend a fortune to buy a house on what was a swamp. Their backyard is on a man made pond with snakes and gators. And once I hit a golf ball on one of their lawns, and went to play it, and you would have thought I killed Jesus in his backyard. He came out yelling and screaming, I just laughed and played on. Now days he could have legally shot me. Golf locals are insane.

Similar, more like they where chipping balls across the pond onto the tee box we were at. One of the guys we were with threw their ball in the water, then they came rolling around and got in his face and the rest is history as they say...

Yeah man, gotta be careful out there, never know what can happen HAHA. As far as possession, I've never been caught (knock on wood), but I almost did last week when I got pulled over. Had a J sitting in my ashtray, I rolled the dice because I didn't want to throw it out the window and chance not having any for the ride home, and it worked out because I just got a warning for "speeding" (which I don't think I was but W/E, that's twice in 6 months I've been pulled over for doing nothing wrong in Brevard County), luckily he just made me sit and wait for 10 minutes while he BS'd with his partner and then came back to let me go.

That's interesting, most of the times I've been there it's been 95% stand up guys, and 5% boogers, but it don't matter, nobody messes with me. I've always had good times out there. But you're right, if you're going to throw down gotta be ready for others to jump in, so hopefully that never happens. Been jumped before at a party back when I was like 18, 4 on 1, got a scar to prove it, got my licks in too but they were the ones who ended up running off like little scare b*tches, I still took a little bit of a beating in the process but I wasn't going no where. Luckily no weapons were used.

Nah, i'm really a peaceful dude and you probably wouldn't think twice about me if you saw me in person. It's the quiet ones you gotta watch out for though :)

No way man, that suicide. They don't fight fair, you'll get shot simply for being there.

I hit peoples houses from time to time on accident, nobody has done anything yet, but I gotta believe they expect that to happen if they live right on the fairway.

    That is true.
Although I am a "local", I do not "practice" localism. You are fighting an incoming tide--every year the number of surfers increases, the result of heavy marketing by surf clothing companies etc. Sooner or later, when one pushes localism, the numbers will be against you, and you will lose, big time. Better to share, have fun with others. Anyone here can still get solo time at a break if you go at the right time & place.
And if that doesn't work, pull out your .45 caliber and blow their brains out. hahahaha!!!

All the "local spots" I've surfed in the last few months have been cool. Everyone pretty much showing respect and etiquette and throwing out good vibes. Even in very crowded surf. It's way better than being part of a dust up when you're out to have fun. Not too many years ago, it was different. Maybe the aggro enforcers grew out of it, moved to Costa Rica, or are in jail or have hep. It's nice now. Even females get respect. (Not like on this here surf predictin forum. This is a harsh line up, I tell ya.)

    u said it best u2b.

im on page one reading the jersey agro conversation between sandblasters and cdsurf.I don't get offended when people talk shyt about nj,its usually true.but everywhere is the same, theres cool people and there are douches.most people are pretty friendly,i had people from lbi try to coach me out to the lineup on a day I wasn't prepared for,and being my first time ever going there they showed a lot of love.i once had a near collision and no hassles or worries, the dude was cool about it.

its surfing, not selling drugs on another guys corner(ask riley lol).surfers don't know what beef is,kala alexander doesn't even know what beef is.someone dropping in on u is not beef.someone raping ur wife or mother is beef.

lol il end it with a mos def quote

beef is not what jay said to nas/beef is when working negros cant find jobs/so they try to find negros to rob/try to find bigger guns so they can finish the job....some beef is big and some beef is small, but what yall call beef is not beef at all.............now I want a burger

I'd like to see more people like you out in the lineup. Correct on all fronts.

usually here in nj,if I see a crowd,i just look to my left and then to my right.empty peaks.which one do I want?its a shame theres people that will stroll up just as I have, look in both directions, aand paddle out in the crowd.safety is one thing, but sharing 1 jetty when its pumping with 20 people is just wrong.

so localism, protecting ur spot is one thing, and threatening people and slashing tires is another.my car is a piece of shyt, but if some retarded surfer ever slashed my tires id bang his face off the rockwall.2 things u don't touch, a mans woman and a mans ride.respect it

I live locally but travel to other places..and in no way practice localism...respect goes both ways, both visitors and locals in the water...and it's as simple as that!...nearly 30 years and never seen any localism attitude at home or when traveling.

In puerto rico I got vibed on the daily even had a guy follow me to the beach at domes and yell at me for spraying him after i turned to avoid him as he was trying to drop in on me..... ran into lots of assholes down there that got pissed at me simply for being a gringo in the lineup... makes you appreciate how ****ty it is to be a minority......
Santa Cruz also has a crazy local vibe its much less in your face, but if your an unfamiliar face prepare to get dropped in on just about every wave at the lane or any of the other major points... its defiantly needed though surfed rincon at 5ft earlier this year and it was out of hand... legit did battle the whole way in with like 10 guys for a set i sat out on the point and waited a good hour for... localism sucks when your on the receiving end but as far as spots with defined take off zones i think its needed... The best vibes I've found is Ocean Beach SF on a big swell the paddle keeps anyone who doesn't belong a long way from the lineup and everyone is hooting hollering and calling each other into waves when you get out
