So, after checking out a few truck forums, I quickly realized that if I wanted some answers I needed to come here. I recall one member here (Seldom maybe) has a 4runner and one that he is rebuilding. I am looking into lifting my 2005...nothing crazy...just want to beef it up a bit for beach and mountain terrain . Anyone have any experience with 4runners? The leveling part is question one...keep back higher or level? question 2....came stock with 17', should I stick with those rims and put 265/70r17s? looking at 3' lift. Thanks for any insight and the extra smart wisdom that comes along with it
I know dude...but I have seen some miraculous insight and information sharing in other areas of life on here, even solid medical advice.
Tlobkien's got a couple 4runners. I say keep it level. I've got a crazy ass lifted 89 4Runner. Bought it that way. I also think your stock rims would be fine with three inch lift.
Yea it came stock with elevated rear and I want to go level. Thanks...I intend to run this think into the ground
I've seen alot of the 4runner's with (it seems) an elevated front, why? Or it seems as if the a$$ end is sagging. My cousin has a 2014 4runner, that thing is tits
North Atlantic County's pick-up truck of choice is the Toyota Tacoma. I have no idea why but they all drive them on the beach scaring away my seagulls. So I guess the question, JayD, is: are you cool as the dudes in Atlantic County, NJ.
JayD, I have 2, one I'm rebuilding the engine (2000) and a 2005. Slammed at work, will try to get back to you later but may be tomorrow. PM me to remind me if you don't hear anything by tomorrow afternoon...
Riley Sir...I am not cool at all. But, I do like what that V8 will do in the mud and I want to juice it up a bit (may be a poor choice of words)!
The medical advice from The Forum is take-it-to-the-bank material. Esp from my wild side hombre Riled Up Martin.
Well you sure did come to the right place! Swellinfo.com offers the best mechanic advise for all your automotive needs. The consensus here at swellinfo.com is (much like everything) if your gonna do it- go the whole way- go big. This is the normal down here in The Belmar for a swellinfo.com team surfer: Seriously- if your considering leveling the rear end- look into air bags... They are cheap and easy to install and work great!! Plus you can adjust them and if you tow (your jet ski to The Belmar) it will really help with leveling and ride quality
Hey dude, I'm trying to do something similar with my FJ. I know it's an FJ website, but some of that stuff says it fits a 4Runner. Them two and Tacomas are all the same frame (the Tacoma frame) so... Check it out, maybe you'll see something that works for you. They also have suspension kits "by budget". So maybe there's something to look through. http://www.purefjcruiser.com/index....1cc6c83d1b6d6071522a4&keyword=4Runner&x=0&y=0
If you look into getting a budget lift kit you should really take a look at some of the reviews. I dont have a toyota but i am guessing that has IFS and leaf springs in the rear. Basically a "Budget" lift kit consists of spacers between your stock suspension components and the frame of your vehicle. Adding these spacers changes the angles of CV axles, steering linkage, and driveshafts and you typically end up getting pretty terrible vibrations. Spend the extra thousand dollars and get a kit that has upper control arms or else your will be replacing 3000 worth of parts in the next 3 years.
Towelie and Tractor...thanks. I was looking to just put a suspension lift but the more I read (and to Tractor's point)...you can really cause some damage. So you are saying replace the whole suspension with lift and adding upper control arms??? I will read up on this. Looks like more $$$ but I want it done right.
I wouldn't do it, you'll end up with what, a half inch extra clearance? At the expense of comfort and some degree of on-road safety.
