Wetsuit Allergy- Anyone else out there?? Please help

Sounds terrible. Have you tried wearing a rash guard and Lycra pants under your wetsuite? Maybe the barrier will help.

 

I have similar issues but not as bad (I wear an Xcel). I get little red raised bumps and they are always localized to my upper chest and pits. It usually goes away within a few hours after a sesh. Rash guard doesn't seem to help. It's not bad enough to make me drop the coin on a Patagonia yet (if that would even remedy it.)

Hopefully someone has a helpful response. That sucks.

Lots of people around where I live have wetsuit allergies. Must be the case because there was no one out in February and now everybody and their mother is surfing

 

Happens to my friend. He's allergic to latex too. Pony up and get the Patagonia natural rubber suit. You won't be allergic to it. There great suits but $$$$

 

No issues but who knows what our bodies are absorbing from the chemicalsuites, er, wetsuites.

There are many, many ways, large & small, in which humans are destroying the planet. Humans nuking one another is not the only way to destroy the earth. But this back & forth is pointless: believe what you want to believe.

And to the guy who is allergic to neoprene: it's common, unfortunately. Try the Yulex. Other than that, you're kind of SOL unless your ailment facilitates you moving to the tropics to live/surf, in which case you are a winner.

have you gone to surf in France before?? If so, where do you go?
My wife, who is of French descent (Quebecoise), would love to go. I would like to try going there as well someday soon. There is that large wave break (I forget the name), I would love to surf--it is an open water location. Guns required. Presently, the only trip I have on the books is Costa Rica for March 2016.
