A few days ago North Wildwood announced that 12th street surfing beach would be temporarily closed. I have spoken with them and they said that they are actually taking the beach away from the surfers because the 12th street homeowners complained that their street is a surfing beach and they cannot swim.

The local surf community is trying to take the beach back from Wildwood. Many of us grew up surfing this beach and we are not just goin to let them take it because 30 owners decide now that they don't want to walk one street over. People have been surfing this beach longer than those homes have been there.

Please contact 609-522-2030. This the number to the mayors office. We are trying to get as many people to complain as possible to take this beach back. We need as much support as we can get so please call. Thank you

Forget posting this, forget social media, and forget calling. Paddle out with one finder extended. If you get arrested so what. Get enough to do the same over and over again and they will relent.

"Paddle out with one finder extended"

Or better yet wait until you are done with the paddle out.

Well that sux! Probably uppity white folks. You gotta organize the people that surf there quick, turn up in numbers and let the city know you ain't gonna take it. Good luck.

According to The Press of Atlantic City, they are just switching the designated surfing spot during the summer. The paper sites erosion as the reason for closing 12th st.

However, that's just the scene Memorial through Labor Day between 10-5 or whatever. You can still surf 12th st, according to the paper, in July at 7:30 pm or in February at noon.

According to the paper this is nothing but switching the summer designated surfing spot. Now it is between 2nd and 3rd Street, which I'm going to gander isn't too far removed from the quality dished out at 12th st.

You guys should go to Ocean City anyway. Hey, have you ever heard of Rob Kelly?

where are they taking our beaches to?please don't tell me they shipped them off to china.regulating surfing in the summertime is nothing new.out of towners pay big money to come and stuff their faces and get sunburnt.they don't care about the local crew who lives 2 blocks away and surf there all year around.

I got byched at by a lifeguard in long branch one day because I was swimming in the surf zone, which the day it was like 2 ft,and im literally standing behind the only guy out who was a cool Mexican I know, like it was waist deep in the lineup and I was bodysurfing.i don't like paddling for waves on a board in kneedeep water.i told the guy I probably been surfing this spot all year long since u were in kindergarten.

same thing when we get a hurricane.beaches closed,no entry.yes its a lot safer surfing 8 foot south swell in 35 degree water than it is surfing a tropical storm with 4 footers with 73 degree water.its a good thing we have plenty of coastline in nj,they cant patrol it all

Be glad it's only temporary. Many good waves go unridden on beaches claimed by shore front homeowners. They pay the higher taxes, they get the say. Sucks, but that's the way it works. It's Jersey... nothin new. It's good to unify and I hope you get positive results.

I'm sure he knows the diff. but probably was all jacked up with emotion aboot loosing his break.

I don't give a fark how much you paid for your beach house it should not prevent peoples use of OUR natural resouces.

lifeguards need to do their jobs and that's it. That doesn't include telling anyone where they can go in the ocean. This is why I hate the summer. Next time there is a cane swell I say we get like 30 people to paddle out together on any beach where it looks fun in the swimming zone (where by the way they don't let swimmers anyway during rough surf). Id like to see them try to arrest 30 people. There is strength in numbers. **** these people.

Cute, but numbers will not keep you out of the slammer. Lifeguard procedure is this: trouble on beach? Call HQ; HQ calls cops. You pay fine along with 30 offenders.
You need to have another plan
