I'm a junior in high school. I don't want to get out of control because I don't want to put ourselves on the level of the stereotype that they hold us to. There is a meeting in a few days. I don't know details yet, but I can put anyone in contact with a leader of this situation. That will be able to better inform you.

Do you have a local Surfrider Chapter? They have lots of experience on beach access issues, and can give you some free legal advice on how to best organize in your area, based on the laws in your area. It gives you a shield for civil disobedience. They win some, they lose some. But at least you won't look like a rogue protester or the stereotype you allude to. Strength in numbers and a record of scientific achievement gives them some clout in these matters.

dude that ship sailed decades ago.surfers are not respected people in the outside world, outside of surfing that is.calling up ur congressman and saying "hey braaa, don't take away our waves doood"in a slow mellow tone, doesn't work.i tried year after year, sent emails, contacted surfrider,I called one day and they were just like ok,click.

it comes down to simple economics.do we(the state) want to try and prevent flooding to our upper class(rich ppl on the beach) or let it be and risk millions of dollars in flood damage.when rich people want something done, its done.no argueing.they look at surfers like a bunch of young rebel punks whos family lives on the shore and goes and surfs everyday, litters, curses, unpleasant to be around, always causing a disturbance.sure not all surfers are like that, and the grown men that surf lol, they look at us like seriously, grow up already.its a dog eat dog world.
