Little bastards. I hope you feel better soon. Reminds me of when we were kids, skipping school. Once we dug a pit in the sand, layed some palm fronds over it, and covered it with sand. then we waited for some random tourist to step in it. No one did, we got bored, the tide washed it out , and we left. But kids will do stuff.

Sorry for the late reply guys, the painkillers knocked me out pretty good yesterday. Wife's driving me to work so I'll just reply to everyone here...

Thanks Zero...and I see what you did there!

Sounds like a plan. I'll heckle/cheer you on man! You don't mind me launching water ballons at you either do ya? And I'll make sure I bring my helmet and bite plate for the Fat P. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I've got lots of experience on crutches. Few beers and I'll be bustin' air reverses on those things.

Well you should have seen me when it happenned. The wife was happy it was just the vice grips that I tried to punch through the fence instead of my fist, else I'd have two casts now. Once I calmed down...meh, I've had worse and there are plenty of people that have it far worse than I.

I knew this guy (below), grew up in my neighborhood. Never had much for parents, always getting in trouble. Later in life he got his act together and had a beautiful family (4 kids) and was all into fitness and cycling. Now he's dead because a stupid POS ran him over passing a truck on a blind curve over a double yellow line. So yeah, this ain't nuttin'.

Thanks LazyE. Chicks dig a boot? ha! Said no chick ever!

Thanks Seldom! Hell make it three. Utah needs three.

Thanks Yank! Maybe I should take up trolling...

I'm going to try my best to not be too sedentary. Keep up the upper body and core workouts, can still work the right leg. Can't let atrophy set in or will be even hard to get back into it. And once I get this cast off can at least paddle the board around, keep the shoulders in shape.

Thanks KR! Wonder if I can work the sponge with just one flipper...and I'll try to live up to your expectations with the posts!

Thanks Clemmy, didn't think of that. The doc martens should fit the bill.

Thanks Rileybear. Writing props from the SI resident nobel laureate? I'm honored sir.

Yeah, although I'm pretty sure the cat is the mastermind behind it all. She's the puppeteer pulling the strings.

Lolz! Did you say "Oh snap!" when the cops appeared.

Thanks DonQ, I'll be chasing windmills uh I mean shifty EC peaks in no time.

Warm and fuzzy it is, thanks!

Such a hellion. I can't be associated with such types, being that I was a perfect angel when I was a wee lad. Still polishing that halo everyday!

I hear ya man and know what you mean. When I was suffering from chronic back issues they had me on vicodin. I'd take it for a week then go cold turkey and just suffer through it. That stuff is crazy addictive. Fortunately one of the side effects of beating the crap out of my body all these years is its driven up my pain threshold, so after a couple days should be able to just ditch the pills.

Thanks to all for the well wishes!

T-loke, sorry to hear about the break. Stay positive man, sh*t happens; at least it was small sh*t.

Now you've got time for some fishing, shaping, art, or music. Why not finish up that gangsta-rap album you've had in the back of your mind for years?

I hear ya Slash and thanks! I'm just happy no surgery and other than the chunk of bone that came off there's no other damage. No ripped ligaments or anything like that.

Definitely gonna keep busy. Been working on a short-story I'm getting close to finishing and can still make band practice every Thursday night. Now that we've finally got the new drummer up to speed we're going to hopefully finish the rest of the album soon.

Plus I've got tix to see Jim Bruer Friday night and tix for Mastodon\Clutch Saturday night. Good thing I've got experience with drinkin' and crutchin'.

Life is still good, this is just a bump in the road.

    Dude, how is it going?

I f*cked up my ankle last Monday in the shorebreak. And now I'm watching some nice little clean surf on the cam and it is absolutely killing me!!

I was enjoying some nice loose rights, and I should have known better than to stay on a shallow wave at a dumpy spot, but it was fun. One reformed twice and when it jacked up all-sea-foam green and brown, I took notice, as I was awkwardly ejected. Would have been fine, but the water was maybe a foot deep.

I had that bright, sharp, instant type of pain that really alerts your brain, and then somehow got picked up and dumped onto my face. I was a bit stunned and hobbled out of the surf, then fell to my knees and crawled. After 15 minutes or so I could put some weight on it, so I hobbled home and eventually to the Doc.

Nothing broken thankfully, but I have an MRI tomorrow to check out the squishy parts. Only one week later and I feel a lot better, so I'm really hoping he gives me the okay to surf in a week or so (just in time for true flatness to arrive). I got a prescription for that Cam boot too but I'm not gonna bother unless the MRI says I should.

Anyway, just wanted to add my (probably) comparatively minor tale of woe.

Hope you are getting around and raising hell T-loke. As my buddy said ... 'gotta pay to play.'

Damn SlashD! Getting too greedy in the shrorebreak? It's happed to me with broken ribs, landing on my rail on the beach. Stay off the nar nar pills, and feel better soon.

Thanks guys, let's see who makes it to the surf first, me or T-loke.

Broken ribs on rail ... god damn that is brutal. I don't think I ever even cracked a rib, seems like hell on earth. I don't know if it was greed, maybe idiocy. Not like I was floating some nice section or airing out ... just surfing a fishy board with two fins, feet close, enjoying the looseness. Had a couple of really nice waves and just wasn't thinking I guess ...

But hey, from one surfdog to another, you know, a dog's gotta eat on this coast. Could be days without a meal. Sometimes you find steak and sometimes you find bread, and sometimes you bite into a needle diggin' through the trash. Woof Woof!

T-loke what is up with your novel/album?

Whaddup Slash...sorry didn't reply sooner, work is hell this week. Sucks about your ankle man. Funny thing is I was just talking to another forum HOF'er yesterday and they f'd up themselves in the shorepound too. IIRC there was a thread a while back about how people seem to get jacked up way more screwing around in shorepound or small waves + shallow water. I would agree with that.

Hopefully the MRI will turn out ok, doc told me breaks (esp. where I broke it - the fibula) are better and faster to heal than ligaments, and can cause more long term problems. I'd be very careful about it. I'm glad I actually listened to the doc and stayed off mine completely for the first two weeks. I was able to do some light swimming and some flat-water lake SUPing last weekend and have been able to get in other workouts for over week now. Still using the boot when I work out JIC but I've been riding the stationary bike lifting weight and stuff w\o any problem.

I go for (hopefully) my final x-ray 6/26 and if all goes well I'm leaving there and heading for straight for CB.

As for raising hell...yep still keeping that going. In fact I'm even more of a PITA now. Idle hands for the devil and all that. :)

Broken ribs suck. Busted mine from a fall rock climbing. Took a lot of beer to get me off the couch that night.

Novel I'm going to release as a serial like the old school sci-fi stuff. Hopefully the first release will generate enough interest and people will want more. First draft is done and farmed out to some of my geeky sci-fi reading peeps. Feedback is positive so far. Soon as I get all the feedback in and do the last rev I'll be putting it out, but not sure exactly how I'm going to release it yet.

Album is moving along finally. Took like a year to get the drummer up to speed but we're close to gig ready and we're starting to work on getting the rest of the songs recorded for the full length release. We have 3 in the can so far, two have been mixed by our guru (John Plymale) but none have been mastered yet. We have 6 more to get in the can (one is WIP rt now) then after John works his magic will send it off to Brent Lambert to get it mastered, then release.

PM me if you want to check out our band's website. And thanks for asking bro!
