This is very telling. I dont know if he/she really understands who he/she is dealing with. If anything, I hope this forum prompts he/she to rewrite their thesis entirely. Maybe even start thinking about a new thesis. Any assumption he/she has made up till now has probably been negated by the overwhelming negative response he/she has received from this esteemed group of surfers/watermen/waterwomen. Who the **** is social media?
Well, to be honest I wasn't sure what it was when I replied to the post. After looking at her/his profile picture I am more confused as to the gender of he-she.
Surfers online behavior? I didn't look at the survey by the way... Today's surfers are consumed with surf predictin' websites desperate to know the condition ten days from now. They are overwhelmed by clips and videos making the whole video thing irrelevant any more. Ha, there was once a day where surf vids, movies, etc were much more rare, making them more important. Now, it's just too commonplace. Who cares? How many clips of airs can one watch? Ahh, glory were the days of the surf mag, headed by straight-up mothertruckers with a sense of humor and some literary prowess. Surfing has become complicated now. So many decisions to make based on so many reports...so many cams...so many opinions. It's almost become a science even. Pros now have to be internet personalities to get that big sponsorship. Would a Tom Curren have made it in today's world? Can't see his type being on Instagram or whatever. The eccentrics have been over-run or ignored. And of course the message boards......what pure barbaric verbal jousting with dudes from Da Islands, California Texas, and of course New Jersey. Take a jab at some dude form South Carolina. Why not? Live fictionally of tale or tails of ripping sessions and dangerous South Pacific waves. Why not? There's no accountability on this new plane or plain of life - the computer.
