glad you posted this...I thought today was a lay day. Wasn't paying attention to time change earlier I guess. This is one of my favorite contest, if not my favorite (Pipe, Chopes round out my top three). Who you like? I think Slater can pull it off but there are a few other madmen in the bunch to get it done???
medina gets a 9.23, one wave. owen wright has an identical wave next heat and gets a mid 7 something.. so lame. One of the advertisers must have phone that one into the judges,..
there are no sponsors for this event so stop it. That said man what a crappy day of surf. there were better waves for the freesurfs earlier in the week and the women even got better stuff. solid swell for end of the waiting period so i think they just needed to run the opening rounds to get it started so they can maximize the big stuff coming. strider biz casual in the line up was awkward.
Got 2 of my 8 FS picks through to round 3. Not looking good. I was expecting more swell than what I saw on day 1. Hopefully the tubes start up today. Didn't watch all the heats but judging from the scores, seems like Medina is looking pretty good. A few dark horses I wanted to see blow up included Wilko and Aritz. Dane showed up surfing horribly again.
Still don't like medina... And that Toledo dude... Too fockin snarky and arrogant for my taste. Is that a Brazilian thing in general?
