Maybe the sharks are getting lonely, and are just giving out playful love nips.

One hell of a Shark Week promotion stunt...

Discovery and NatGeo are behind this.

Sometimes I wonder if getting mimic eyes and teeth tatooed on my calves would provid a final level of deterrence...

Man ... for an industry that has had so many screwups, rocket scientists sure are held in high esteeem.

Nobody ever says "it doesnt take a marine biologist to know why SpaceX Falcon 9 just blew up"

I have seen a noticeable uptick in bait fish swarming up and down the beach this year.

They just said on the news there was a sighting in NJ clearing the ocean of swimmers in two different spots.

I think the net ban enacted about a decade ago off the Carolinas, prohibiting king mackerel from being targeted by nets, has had a big effect on the number of fish and the number of sharks in coastal waters off the east coast. Every year down here it seems the bait run is a bit stronger, not like in the 70s, but better than the 80s and 90s and even 10 years ago. More fish equals more sharks, and makes for a healthy ocean.

If you ask me, I think there are also more people in the water. So do the math.

    Exactly.
+1 Anyone with a brain in their head could see right through these lies, but the general public is being fed propaganda by "shark experts" with an agenda. Unfortunately, the media isn't doing it's job by getting the other side on the air to talk reality. They just stink with one side who's clearly lying.

You're dealing with explosive fuels. **** can go wrong. These people got us to the moon. What have marine biologists done? Play with whales at seaworld or do stupid "education"( propaganda) documentaries on television? Marine Biologists are not real scientists. An environmental science degree is also a joke. Biochemists are real scientists as well. Medical researches have cured polio and created antibiotics which have saved millions of lives. These types of people should be held in high regard.

People who study marine biology or environmental science usually have an agenda with preconceived ideals(tree huggers) and just want to work with whales/sharks ect, become forest rangers, enact political policies in environmental areas ect. These are not real scientists. Don't confuse the two.

A biochemist doing medical research is a scientist. An engineer working for NASA on a rocket is a scientist. A marine biologist is not even close to the same category. It's not a "hard science".

I'm sure the ocean would be fine with slightly less bullsharks. The ocean won't come to an end. lol Less bullsharks= more fish :)
    Well, let's talk science then.
    I will do the math.

Are there more people entering the water in NJ or NC? Look at the cam in belmar to see the "sea of people". Yet no attacks. If it was simply more people, shouldn't NJ have MORE attacks. Or maybe it's because there's been a huge increase in bullshark populations off NC

Can you please provide data showing the number of people entering the water and number of hours spent in NC over the past decade? Please list year by year, then compare proportionally to the number of attacks per year to prove your point. Of course we already know the answer.

    It's TOTAL BULL****.

Increased bullshark activity in the area in the reason.

If number of people entering the water was the reason for shark attacks then Southern California would have a a hundred thousand times more attacks then central/northern california. Southern california doesn't have the large white sharks in large numbers that central california has. It's common sense. It's mostly juvenile whites down in orange county. They're still eating fish at this point, therefore not dangerous.

    I'M READY!!

    "Shark Biscuit" Sponge Fall classic

First chest high swell in Sept.

Location: Rodanthe, NC or Cape Cod outer sand bar in fall, or Reunion Island....whichever place has had more attacks over the entire summer. That will the spot.

    Rules:
1)Water needs to be heavily chummed 48 hours before non stop. Chum lines set up so current takes it toward our break.
2)Spongers must tape open sardine cans to the inside of their wetsuits and fill their chest area with fish guts
3)If it takes place on Cape cod, event will only take place on a beach with a ton of seals on monomoy island in fall on an outer bar.

Winner: Whoever has the most limbs or is still alive at the end of the contest.
