    Booked the Dubai wave experience a couple of years ago. Got a ping 48 hrs before wheels up: wave machine broken, out of service for 2 weeks.
    All I can say is thank the fates that I hadn't already stepped on the plane for that 14 hour flight to sandy nothingness.

    Sandy nothingness is right. F*ck Dubai, land of the slaveowners. As a worker, you'd be better off in Saddam-led Iraq than Dubai.

    They're rich and they live in a ****hole desert with nothing but oil. They'very got artificial ski slopes and artificial waves, plus some garbage natural swells that make Lake Ontario look legit.

    I get the appeal guys, but we should all dread the day that surfing means not entering the ocean.

    Pretty much my sentiments. However, I do find their culture and food interesting. They need to get with the rest of the world on women's rights.

    Yeah, i'll never go to Dubai, just thought the wave looked kinda fun for what it is, and right now when i'm looking at an almost flat ocean, it would give me something to do, there's always Typhoon Lagoon I guess, but I still haven't tried that thing out and I live 45 minutes from it. I don't know if I would ever get that desperate now that I think of it. I could see doing it with a small group of people who pitch in together to rent the place out for a B Day party or something.

    Wadi adventure in UAE can actually get pretty big. I may be moving there for a job oppurtunity and this is the only thing making it ok. Nothing will ever replace the ocean.
