i'm thinking of taking my wife up to BI, but I've heard stories of crimes against out-of-state jersey surfers like me. can you pm if you have any specific advice on accessing certain difficult to find spots without having my car trashed, or is that just talk to keep people like me away?
if I saw guys out having fun i'd go elsewhere. do you ever surf BI?

and indeed it did JayD, bigger than forecast, I'd call it a solid 4 on the sets, and had some punch. God what beats summertime glass man?

Dare I say, I am a bit jealous! I had such high hope this weekend. The fickle EC I tell ya...it's trying sometimes. Glad you scored....sounds like the conditions were much better North of the bay.

Surfed Saturday from 630 - 830 in OCMD. Waist high and breaking right on the shore (classic ocmd conditions). I had the groveler until it washed ashore and earned a ding on the nose. Broke out the standup boogie and had a blast. Surf fever cured for now.

Scored both Sat and Sun morning in Southe Jerz. Surfed from about 6:30 to 9am both days. Saturday was a little bigger and had some texture from the breeze but Sunday had a lot of fun smaller ones for the log and worked pretty well until the tide got too high. The consensus was that Friday evening was great too but work conspired to prevent me from getting out three days in a row.

I have to say that for the middle of summer we've had a great run of cold front driven S wind swell with some surprising smaller but longer period background swell mixed in over the past month and that it has been about as good a July (with not a single TS/hurricane swell for that matter) that I can remember. If we could just lose the touriste hordes and the green heads...

Took a few days off last week.

Surfed Dana point on Wednesday, La Jolla on Thursday, Sat & Sun.

Wednesday & Thursday were overhead. Sat & Sun were smaller, but still some chest high fun

Love these week long swells out here!

Saturday am was fun, nothing huge, but fun, maybe waist to chest high with the bigger sets, waves breaking on an outside sandbar so u can connect it all the way to the inside.absolutly beautiful day, until I left the beach.but weather was perfect, not too sunny,i prefer clouds.towards the end I put my board on the beach and went out to bodysurf the outer bar and 2 little groms(7-8yrs old) were out there all by themselves,no parents lol,so I decided to push them into a few waves.it was good to see them stoked.now we wait for tomorrow for these allegedly 4 footers

its so much better going in warm water lol,im used to wearing a wetty,I went bobbed around without a board and wanted to see whats the minimum u can dive under a wave lol.most waves all u have to do is lay flat and they roll right over u,i just wanted to get pounded a little

isnt it like 72 up there? your not in a spring? id be in a spring atleast goes into 60s here comes the 3/2....if it was 72 in florida they would be in a 3/2 lol they're such pusies . i was down in in 76 in no wetty, i put one on and almost died. i went to satellite beach later that day water was in the low 60s, talked to so people about the water and they said they were in 4/3s with gloves and booties...i was like wtf put on my 3/2 and it was awesome. but i did just come from 44 degrees in sc. water temps were the coldest ever down here. i put on a hood like 6 times, i average 2 a year.

There was an unforecasted but nice, waist-high bump in the usual ankle-knee summer slop late yesterday afternoon-early evening at Croatan and Dam Neck. My son and I lucked out. Hope some of you VB cats got some. It was a bit choppy, but I'll take what I can get.
