    From flhurricane.com:
"A healthy Cape Verde wave rolled off the coast of western Africa on Tuesday. As of 3AM EDT Wednesday August 5th, the mid-level vorticity center of Invest N/A was located near 11N 20W, with an apparent associated surface trof a little north of there. Movement of this disturbance is generally to the west, within a cocoon of relatively light shear and decent atmospheric moisture, for now.

Model runs so far wash this disturbance out, but favor developing the next strong wave to exit behind it, which is presently still crossing the continent"

when i was a kid i used to watch pee wee's play house on saturday morning. he always had a word of the day and when any other characters said it, all the kids were supposed to scream really loud.

then many years later he gets caught jacking in a porn theater. that pretty much ruined everything for me.

i want to believe he was a good guy but i know the truth. so in his honor we are going to have a new word of the day.

here we go kids ..... the word of the day is........ "wind shear"

By mid to late August, the upper atmosphere in the west Atlantic should be more favorable to storm development, but the water is cooler this year than the last few, so......

BTW, that was at my break last November. Chest to head high and I had it ALL TO MYSELF. Meanwhile up in Ocean City every break was 20 dudes deep.

My friends just got back from a three week boat trip to the out islands in the Aboacos, Bahamas. Usually this time of year there is always a waist to shoulder high background swell over shallow reef. This year they did not even take the boards out of their bags.

Ocean is warming, buoy has it in the low 80s now, as opposed to the cold water upwelling of mid 70s past month. This is where the Jersey boys chime in on how weak Floridians are for being chilled in mid to low 70s :)

As a yout, I was also a fan of pee wee.
If I ever ran into him, I think I'd be more inclined to fist bump than shake hands with him.

Betty that is just local water temps, the water out in the Atlantic where hurricane spawn is still really cool thus not giving the lows coming off Africa a chance to grow, plus the wind shear from west to east hampering any formation closer to the U.S. mainland all of which come from......El Nino, and it SUCKS.

Yes it truly does SUCK. I'm going for another swim/dive/paddle - I think all the fish at the inlet know me pretty well by now.

Ah. I didn't know that about ocean temperatures: so much to learn. Today was the flattest day ever. Even so, the crew had a blast catching short little ankle to shin highs. The best part was a manatee came right up and surfaced about two feet from my face, snorting and checking us out.

This has got to be a record for the number of consecutive days of flat.
