Fun factoid. Fred is only the fourth Atlantic tropical cyclone to form this far east going back to the 1850s.
So, yes, TS Fred ha shaped up and it still is East of Cape Verde Islands. Somewhat unusual, but interesting. Maybe, hopefully, Fred will head in a Northwesterly direction from the "git go" and generate a swell we will get next week?? One can only hope. Let the hyping begin with that!! Other than that , you all are morons. hahahahaha!!
How goode would it be if Freddy made it across? How likely is it? If he heads north, could he recurve west? mitchell, looking for input here, and others ITK
OncFred gets to the middle of the Atlantic, which is where I estimate it will go, any direction is possible. As of last night it was headed Northwest, exactly what we want. But still wayyyyyyyy to far off to be of any good to the Northeast USA.
This summer was above average in my zone. It wasn't always perfect, but I short larded a ton of rippable waves in the past 3 months. I surfed 6 times in 7 days this past week, and it would have been 7 if I didn't jack up my back. I'm amped on what this summer has produced. I've heard so many complaints in my area about the surf, and I'm like wtf (granted, many of the complainers seem to lack experiance and knowledge). "I can't wait for winter" -why? To surf in 30 degree brown water, in 25 degree air, with 30-40 kt wind? Many people need to learn how to be happy with the present moment, because it's the only one you can possibly live in. The past and the future are just thoughts. If you can't be happy and content with now, you won't have much luck in the future either. Oh Betty.
Yes to the above, with one addendum- also learn to be happy with "surf in 30 degree brown water, in 25 degree air, with 30-40 kt wind", because winter do be a reality around here!! Over and out!!
Same on Delmarva...after a below average spring, July and August have been consistent and fun, way more so than most of the past few summers. 2-3 good sessions a week, meaning at least thigh - waist and rippable on a fish. By the way what the hell is "short-larding" it sounds AMAZING!
I'm happy to surf then also, but like many, I prefer to surf warmer clearer water whenever possible. If surfing in whatever set of conditions is a source of complaints, you're doing it wrong. I've surfed lots of gnarly conditions, and loved it.
Yup, me as well. BTW, I wasn't doubting/questioning what you have done. I was just adding to the concepts you stated. Our summer sort of sucked this year, but the lat few days we had a surprise swell, waist to chest, with no one out as they slept in thinking it was flat. Surprise!! Had loads of great ripping rides!! Hope you had something like that as well.
I typed short boarding, but when iPhone auto corrects it to something cool like "short larding", I felt I should allow the correction and explain later. According to iPhone 'short larding' is an actual thing. What? Idk.
