Yea dude. I have never traded soybeans but have been reading up on it and the pricing charts/history etc have me intrigued for a play on it. I see a lot of AG around VA/NC and it always interest me in seeing what the farmers are growing (rotating crops....cotton, soybeans, corn) and pricing.

We have plenty of resources as well, MIS. We just are not utilizing them properly or even wisely. Maybe someday we will get a Steve Jobs type person that figures out and gives the world direction on the best way to do so. Would be nice, wouldn't it?

depends, you sound like you are describing a scientific dictatorship

Orwell and Huxley warned us about that in their authored works

I'm an Alpha Plus surrounded by Epsilon Morons...

True. But both Orwell and Huxley had exaggerated senses of fiction, which were more like hallucinations.
Then again, they were fiction writers. For some reason or other, I don't read a lot of fiction. I like the real world - books on science (non-fictional) mostly. I think we can both agree, actually, all agree, that we need to improve our resource utilization for many reasons.
    Man, I am hungry--lunch time!!!!!

Alpha Plus and "Epsilon-Minus-Semi-Moron" were manipulated human types in Huxley's, "Brave New World." Boy, I sound like a literary douche canoe.

Somebody put too much alcohol in my blood surrogate.

Not being my usual fun-to-be-around self, MIS, but what "wall" do you refer to?

USA is still the #1 producer of timber in the world.
Still the #1 exporter of oil in the world.
Still the #1 exporter of natural gas in the world.

Where do you think all this wealth comes from? We sell it.

we sell it on the cheap fire sale style, that is coming to an end as extraction is becoming more difficult

timber isnt exactly sustainable, unless it is made so, and in order to do that liquidation of forests must be slowed to allow regrowth

oil and NG are not renewable on our current timelines and the carbon output from their use will have detrimental effects in the long run

I am reminded of the guy who jumped off a cliff, thinking, hey this is going good so far!

dont know if the fall will take 10 or 1000 years, maybe we will figure out how to make it work in the unknown timeline

also, we have population overshoot problem, the j shaped log growth curve of a pop with limited resources has a 'correction phase'

that correction phase on a graph looks like a dip, a reduction in numbers, that sounds ok on paper, but it will be a horror show in reality. :(

    dont mind me

I also remember back in the 70s when 'respected scientists' said we would be out of oil by 2000.....

Break out the cyanide pills. You must be tons of conversational fun at parties, MIS. Take it easyyyyyy......just kidding.

Your points are valid. Along with the genpop problem is the issue of the massive amount of undisposable human waste (yah, that stuff) which has become a huge problem.

BTW, in the Potomac River it's been well-documented for at least 10 years now that more & more fish with male/female reproductive organs are being caught. Want to know why that is...?

Well, metro DC has the world's largest number of birth control scrips written annually. And these women are peeing, and that pee goes through waste treatment plants that can not filter out the estrogen & testosterone & whatever else is in that pee. Once the water leaves the waste treatment plants, guess where it goes? Yep: straight into the Potomac.

    Bingo. Androgynous fish.

And, guess where most of the drinking water for metro DC's 4 million plus people originates?
What say you? The Potomac? Go to the head of the class!
