If this was his home spot there is no way you can "share" it with him. Even if he's not there he is sharing it with you. I live right near the spot I surf most days. I let a lot of sessions pass and leave it to others, visitors, vacationers etc. When I do go out, I'm going where ever I want and the sharing stops until I'm done, or get agitated enough that it's affecting my mood, then I move. One thing I would never do is throw someone's stuff in the water. That's the one part of the story that slightly balances the bad behavior of dropping in. It's also the one part of the story that seems after all of this to be a bit contrived.

I can honestly say I have never seen someone who carries his board down to the beach in a board bag surf very well. It's always the guy who yanks his board out from under a ladder in the back of his truck that is the ripper.

well, there kinda are some surf rules...just isn't anyone to enforce them. If someone bailed their board and it hit you, you'd be pissed, etc. Even if you were actually sharing the peak, first guy up is the "rule"...where you ever the first guy up?

Right or wrong, you may want to invest in a indestructible lib-tech board if you're gonna be dropping in on people in the future...it would suck to have all your belongings in the ocean and have dinged up board to go with that.
