Sup's are the Rollerbladers of the skate park. Although I do know a few that charge and understand sharing.

The usual problem is having to surf small ****ty waves. I never see em when it's waves of consequence.

The reason why you don't see them during waves of consequence is because one needs to actually surf during those times. You sound like the type of guy who never seems to be able to free up your schedule when the waves are firing.

Actually watched some SUPS in Wrightsville on a pretty decent size day. These guys were pretty bad ass! They kind of stuck to one area and were killin it and everyone was getting along that day

That mentality might work in your lineup , however you would struggle in my lineup.

    What mentality?

When I say killing it, they were not newbies struggling through the line almost plowing people over. The waves were decent size and pitchin pretty good. The couple dudes I was watching were older guys and they could turn that tanker like a short board. Was actually pretty cool watching them

I read your post as though you sounded scared or intimidated.

Ha ha, scared or intimidated by what? By saying how it was pretty cool to watch somebody ride one who absolutely knows what they are doing?

Opps, I missed the knife comment. Maybe he just got out of prison

I've seen some some SUP shredders @ CB, too. They surf all year, not summer SUP pros. I see them more fall, winter and spring than during the summer.

I have also seen some guys doing very well on them surfing shoulder high waves here in the NE. They usually aren't the problematic ones. The problematic ones are guys that use to surf regular boards and did not do well so they come back with an attitude of "in your face" to others. They get regulated as well, but not by me--I now let the younger guys take care of them.

    BradPitted,

I think you misunderstood. When i am out at say, a place like the cape when it is hollow and bigger, there are less SUP'ers out. My point was when there are a ton of sup'ers out, the waves usually suck so i don't cry too much.

I am the type of guy that has an addictive personality and will blow off stuff i definitely shouldn't when there are good waves, let alone "firing". Luckily we haven't had either in a long time so i have a lot of credits built up.

I gotta thank those wonky klutzy goobers because I feel like they took the heat off the spongers..probably not though.. seems like more hatred towards those guys these days (I'm not a fan either) Those boards are too damn big.

Some guys can sup relatively well but the thing that annoys me the most is they ALL still use their paddle while on the wave. To get over flat spots, connect sections, to help them turn. That's NOT surfing. That's riding a stand up paddle board and you happen to be on a wave. I think we can all agree that the hardest part of surfing, and what makes someone a "good" surfer is their ability to connect sections and surf with speed, flow and power. That's pretty freaking hard to do when you have no means of propulsion except to use the wave.

Some of them are pretty skilled, but it's super ugly. And with the younger, in-shape ones, I have to wonder why they're not riding a real board since they're obviously trying squeeze every bit of performance out of that boat. Makes no sense.
