in the dead of summer than I have all Fall so far! Talk about a stretch of **** in the North East! Dis sucks!!
Ayup....it sure does. My beautiful wife asked me why I am not surfing. I replied because I presently prefer to spend some time with her and I will surf soon enough. Ya gotta turn the negative into a positive, like, like dude....
BWHAHAHAHA, good one! I am betting she did not fall for it. I did get some last Thursday, but I wish it would remain a little more consistent. I don't need 6 foot death barrels, even some 2 to 3 with some occasional bigger sets would be fine!
True. She didn't buy it. Unfortunately, she is wayyy smarter than i am. But she did appreciate the effort!!
We were at our good friends funeral mass and burial. We lost someone very close to us, unfortunately. But thanks for asking, man!!
We had two weeks up epic surf two weeks ago and now are about to go into the NE windswell pattern for at least the next 7 days. Overhead semi-choppy conditions for monday-Tuesday so I'm stoked, especially after looking at yall's forecasts from OCMD and northward.
Yep it sucks. Seems like I was surfing several times a week May-early July. August sucked but then Juaqin and the swells leading up to it were awesome. Nearly three weeks of waves with mostly good wind. I really haven't surfed since except for a ****ty day here and there. At least in the summer the wind is offshore every morning, so all it takes is a little swell and a longboard/groveler. Thigh high and choppy isn't so inviting.
Yea I went last Friday and Saturday, but Friday was just a bit too wild and Saturday was a little too tame... Looking for the Goldie Locks type of waves... just right... but at this point I would take a little bit of cosistency in the surfable waves rather than the CONSISTENCLY FLAT days we have been having this fall... I really dont want to have to buy a dry suit and surf in the winter to get my fix of waves, especially since this ski season forecast is calling for a shart load of snow!! vent vent vent!! Mark
totally understand...so much more comfortable just to put on all your snow clothes and be whisked up to the top of the mt. We didn't get any snow last year on the west coast, so I'm pretty much starving for some deep powder. I used to substitute snow for surfing in winter, but decided that's not the best way to go. I'm the same age as you and think we should take advantage of every chance we get to both surf and ski/snowboard throughout winter. Easier on the west coast because our water and air temps don't usually get below 50 F., but I know a lot of people in the northeast do both anyway. Use it or lose it.
Well Ive been skiing since I was 5 and I started surfing last year so, yea I guess I take skiing over surfing in the winter.. I usually start skiing around Thanksgiving and end in the second to third week in April. Of course this past season I was able to do BOTH in March and April and if ski season gets off to a slow start I will be in the water instead.. besides, until they learn how to make "waves" like they do SNOW, Ill be on the slopes rather than in the icy cold New England waters HOPING for rideable waves in Dec Jan, and Feb... I am thinking about moving to New Zealand.. I hear you can surf and Ski there in the same day!!
Yeah, I actually stopped surfing during the winter for a while and just snowboarded. Then I realized I had made a mistake. Also didn't help that my wife (now ex-wife) hated the beach unless were there drinking. Now I surf more during the winter than I snowboard. I am also closer to the water than I am the hills. So that makes the decision easier. I have also surfed for about 10 years longer than I have snowboarded. Damn I am old. LOL
