I dispute the 37 F, too. Though, I applaud that you let us know the temps. There's like five people on here right now impressed that you braved those conditions. Heck, it was 30 F here in South Jersey at 7:00 am. Also, is your favorite spot the worst on the coast? Isn't everywhere crowded in NH these days? Jeez, you guys have, like, 13 miles of coastline. Wow, New Jersey has 127 miles of coastline not including The Delaware River spots.
Riley I was starin' at the intersection thinking, man, I should have some mexicans do this...then I envisioned Liam, sitting at home, brooding over the immigration epidemic, scraming and waving his fists in the air...'seldom, this is all your fault!'
Don't be jealous--the ocean will provide you with many waves in your future. And some of those opportunities will even come when you can go and I can't!! "So it is written.."
Yo, is it I or me, but I was a lil sparse on here the past few months.... But there's a lot of "regulars" missing, huh? Jeez, and here I get accepted by an online community, and it disbands.... Oh people, I dig raking leaves if I'm high. I rake your leaves for bags.
Any day I can get a ride on a wave is a good day. I'll definitely get with you when I'm up your way. 'Next' time would actually be the first time though. Lived thirty years in Florida and still haven't explored the coast much further north than Sebastian. Say, now that you've relocated, I was kinda expecting you to have a house warming (trashing?) party or something for all your Florida SI bretheren and sisteren. What gives? I did go out againe this morning for an hour in some knee high NE swell. Figured I'd try to get something before the wind clocked and picked up ushering in ChoppeFest 3.0. Semi-clean liners. Found a few almost waist high if you squinted set waves. Nobody around except the couple having sex on beach behind the wind screen. I was wondering why they weren't cheering my awesome surfing skillz. Talked to Steve the surfing ranger. He had just caught one of the local bush-lurkers exposing himself (againe) and tossed him out of the park for the day. Felt more like winter today. Cold front brought the first temp below 70 in around 200 days down here. Had to wear a 1mm top cuz the cooler air/wind. I love my local spot. Also, o barry, I believe you when you say you've been out in the head high 37 degree stuff. And, Shelldonne, I got you two more today though they were very small.
No point in going further north unless it's flat. Then go to NSB, which uses some deep water refraction science crap to somehow always produce a shortboardable wave, even in summer. But yeah why haven't we had a sebastian sesh yet with the other floridians on here? Moving to Melbourne in January and will no longer be an inlander...Stoked!
Valhallalla, thank ye sir, you are a gentleman, a scholar, and a wordsmithe. I'll get you three next time I'm out, hopefully end of this week.
I can usually find what I need at Fort Pierce or further south. That much less driving. But, yeah, I've often thought it would be cool to have a Florida SI meet and greet surf event shindig kinda thing. Bench offs and Hindus of course. Maybe a tossing other's stuff in the water contest. I dunno, probably couldn't pull it off. Organizing surfers is like herding cats. Congrats on your move to the coast.
Indeed it is. Sounds fun, man you'll enjoy the waves up here, good times! About that party, I think everybody would have to wear a mask that matches their aviator so that I know who I'm really talking to. HAHA
I was working as a night auditor at The Sanderling Inn, located on Rt 12 in Duck, NC. A couple straggled in some winter weekday night after midnight. I was kind of upset by that as that never happened during the winter. They wanted a room. So, they start talking aboot how they were living in Cullyfornia and happened to live near the area I used to inhabit in Cullyfornia. Then they went on aboot how Cullyfornia just ain't the same.....and how they were east coast people. I said, yeah, I'm an east coast kid myself. They axed if I was from the OBX. I said nahhh and that I was from the South Jersey/Philly area. Native OBX'ers are gay. They said, "Oh you're a real east coaster." And I sensed a bit of respect. So, I hooked them up with a sweet for $75 bucks a night.
