I dont think the Mr Buzz was intended for small FL surf. The Super Buzz or G-Buzz would be better options.

and my all time favorite, channel islands fishcuit...more performance oriented and is excellent in knee to thigh weak surf. Mine is a 5'4" 34.9L and I weigh about 175. I prefer the pulled in nose and swallow...also narrower board...mine is 19 7/8" but is very thick...2 3/4"...prefer a larger fin for more drive. I have gotten away from the fuller noses.

That mini Simmons....I keep hearing how good/fun it is in small surf...haven't ever seen anyone riding one, but curious how it would do. In your opinion, works for the 5'8, 150-170 lb set or can it work for taller/heavier riders, too?

really good for any weight rider...just have to get the volume right...the 6'0" has close to 42L and I think the 5'4" has about 33L...a big guy, depending how big, can get on a pretty short mini...the key is to get it short as possible and go up more in volume then your normal shortboard. If 30L is standard for someone, I would go to 33-34L...if you ride it when its small...JMO

Its just a deck and bottom shot next to one another. It's not for sale now...but might sell it next spring once I get a replacement.

Bigger deck dents: Bigfoot strikes again

Z is a very good surfer, even with a toasted knee he's better than most, as the saying goes 'that dude can ride anything' - - intriguing description of the ride on that Z-board.

That's one of the (few) problems with super short boards, even with above average volume for the length. I haven't quite figured out why, but it could be the fact that so much of the paddler is in the water. Even with the added volume and float, so much of your body is dragging in the water it might create a disproportionate amount of drag... you're almost swimming the board instead of paddling.

It is because they are not much more than a "bellyboard".
One needs fins to catch a wave with them......

Waheenah or waheener?? I don't know, I'm not from NE but transience of "r" is very evident and key.

Volume+ quad+ large tail+ low entry rocker = formula for small wave sb. Texans have this formula perfected as we are blessed with the smallest weakest waves is the US.
