I guess what I meant is that maybe there are some underlying reasons that led to the symptoms. It sounds like yours were incidental, but I don't know your fitness levels. Do you stretch regularly? How strong are your legs? Are they proportionate? Are you top heavy? etcetcetc. Def go with a sports doctor. One who does sports and understands the need to get back on it. The good ones understand the passion and will give honest advice. I got my knee done by a former olympic skier and the surgery, later back stuff, and PT done by the docs for US women's ski team. PT dudes were mountain bikers and kite boarding helicopter pilots. They completely understood my needs, and gave me functional exercises to do at home. The did NOT let me sniff women ski team underpants, which was disappointing. PT is key. If you can get in to a good sports PT instead of or prior to surgery that might help. Dudes can be wizards.
The injections felt better for about 2 weeks then wore off. Its good to hear that it works for some people. Does it effect you at work. I stand all day at my job was this a problem for you?
Haha you cant have it all (ski team). My main weakness would be flexibility I don't stretch enough. I have strong legs, athletic and not top heavy. 6'3 205 Thanks for the PT advice I will ask the doctor if i can try this instead and make sure i do it after surgery. I don't need some kook cutting my shlt up so i cant do anything.
I have been dealing with this for 6 months and I figured some of you guys had already experienced this so i asked.... and I received quality advice
Had my miniscus removed from quarter quadrant about 7 years ago now. Walked out of surgery (well limped) and was surfing in 2 weeks. Relieved pain and swelling I had dealt with for 4 years prior. Best decision ever. Now I am in my mid 30s and still going strong. I would recommend doing exercises and strengthening the joint once you are through recovery.
knees I've had 3 ... it definitely sounds like meniscus tear ...an mri should have seen that, when torn the pain will never go away unless scoped, I tried alternatives wasted time. Maybe get another opinion unless you really like and trust your surgeon...? otherwise just gotta do it.
+3 for a successful scope op. Had mine doen a while ago, was getting bad by the time I had it. Far from optimal shape right meow and my knee feels great.
I have an MRI tomorrow morning for my right medial meniscus. Effed it up by landing awkward after a floater on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend when it was going off!! Not much swelling. Just a slight limp. Hoping for the best. Too young to not have knees correct (37 yrs old). Leaving for PR for on Christmas Eve!!!
good luck man, **** the doctors, if your MRI is clear stay off it for a few weeks and charge puerto on xmas. I tore my MCL a week or so ago, and ive been able to walk on it the whole time. Already feels 90% better. Doctor says that if i take it easy till first week in january he should clear me for hawaii.
