I'm going to OBX the week of july 4th for a week. I'm looking for a summer board and i was wondering if i should buy down there? What are the shops like? i'm most likely buying used as i'm a broke student. Any help would be great.

    Thanks

In the eye surf shop on Hatteras has some sick boards and the shaper could hook you up

even when its small, there's usually a longboard wave to find on the outer banks. have a good trip and enjoy the warm water.

If you are driving from Halifax of flying into Norfolk, you may want to check a couple of the surf shops in Virginia Beach, or call ahead to Nolte, an OBX-based shaper located on the land side of the Outer Banks. WRV also has a shop in Kill Devil Hills and in Buxton you might also want to check with Fox Water Sports.

I've been down there during the summer for the last 10 years and there has always been some kind of bump in the water.

The place my Families rented out is right on the beach in corolla, I'm praying that there is a nice sandbar in front of it,

ah nice. like the other guys here, I'd recommend In the Eye/Natural Art, but that's about an hour and a half or so south down in Buxton. good shop though...and you could at least stop by S-Turns on the way down...
