idk if it's the camera angle or what but it looks extremely difficult to tell what closes out and what stays open

a lot seem to pinch at the end if they are smaller

 

so basically, one in every 25 waves is makeable

that's what i see after watching for 10 minutes

 

If you guys have few minutes, go to Surfline and view some of the videos from the Pea'hi contest a couple of days ago. Impressive.

 

I couldn't take john john in this one he's just been so shllty this year. Even at the box I thought for sure he would win or chopes but nopes....Idk I dont think he has the competitor mindset.

this is classic pipe.would be a lot cooler if the actual event started,instead of the invitational.by the time the pros get in the size is going to drop..still early tho in Hawaii,conditions are expected to improve

dude I fukin love that kid jack robinson.he is the real deal,im like 14yrs older than him and he'll blow me away at any spot lol.his pops must be proud of him.

also Jamie o brien,i love watching that dude,he always does the incredible out there,being that its his backyard,literally lol.

from watching these pipe comps over the years compared to the webclips,its a real tricky wave.half the heats are averaging 5pt total scores.1 good wave rolls in every other heat and that's it.and its always like that!!not as perfect as u think,so imagine a free surf with 100 other people,most of them pros,u will only get the scraps

i love pipe masters man. its the only contest i really watch. That and the big wave series this year, but in the past Pipe masters is my superbowl. Couch patrol all day with the laptop when its on.

The fact that Bruce Irons is got spanked by Filipe Toledo at Pipe is just sad. I think even if it was second reef pipe, Bruce would have gotten beat by that kid. Blah.
