Ah Veruca I went surfing Christmas day last year at Jesus's favorite spot..the sheit pipe

It was 64 degrees water was 46 chest high..I was hungover and strung out from the night before and almost drowned out theres in the drank

Go surfing in the morning and tend to the family after wards

Surfing can makes any day a better day so why not surf on Christmas Day! If you can.

That being said I can usually find time to surf in any situation but for me it's just not logistically possible to get a surf in that wouldn't be a bummer to someone I care about. I won't miss it either. I love Christmas.

Points well taken PJ... but what about before you had kids? I don't have em, and my lady is overseas, but it's still a tough call for me. I'm hoping to get out where we surfed together last.

But I'm conflicted. Thanksgiving morning is no problem but Christmas morning is another story altogether. Family time is precious; I don't believe I've ever made it out on Christmas Day.

Then again, I haven't surfed as much as I'd like to this fall, between work/injury/being sick. It's not gonna be easy to turn this one down...

 

I surfed last year and my woman came with me (as cold as it was) I got there as the conditions were getting worse but I got about 30 minutes in. Looks like this year it might be good in my town, but I am going to be out of state

 

My boys are old enough now that Xmas morning is no big deal. As long as I'm home for dinner.
That being said, when they were younger I could never have gone on Xmas day. I was too busy putting sh!t together.
Looks like it may be good in these parts on Friday. Hey Zeus would approve.

Christmas Eve Is the big day for my family. We eat a lot of fish and are up to the wee hours and exchange gifts then. Before kids and when I traveled to someone's else's home for Christmas Day I could get a surf in. No different than Thanksgiving really.

If you can you should. Not happening for me is all. At least for a while. but wouldn't be cool to start Christmas off with a big family dawn patrol? then go home for rare roast beast?

 

Agree here. Almost all our festivus activities are done on the Eve, not the day. It will make for a fat and hung over session but it'll clear the cobwebs.

That's it, exactly! Whatever your family tradition is. It's like... hunting on thanksgiving is OK, because it's hunting and kind of aligned with the holiday. Surfing would NOT be ok. Christmas is all about family and being together and enjoying eachother's company. That's our tradition.

Easter is a time to get away, being spring break and all...

so what do u swellos do on Christmas?man its sad growing up,i have a 3ft tree,smallest tree I ever had,its sitting on my coffee table lol.il probably have a total of 5 gifts under the tree.went to my brothers house the other day for his birthday,he has 2 kids,and a big azz Christmas tree with like 20 gifts under it already.honestly I don't even really need or want anything for Christmas,other than waves.

so heres my Christmas.il probably wake up around 11 am,open gifts for 1.5 minutes,go smoke a blunt with my buddy,check the cams and probably head out.then il come home,smoke another blunt,eat the Christmas dinner,come on here and complain lol,and then watch some tv.also alcohol will be involved.

do u know what I bought myself for Christmas?a fuking math book lol,yea probably should've got a grammer book right?but yea I bought a $140 math book for construction trades to improve my work knowledge.the book is from 1943.probably the best gift il get besides the waves but u cant stick the ocean under the tree,maybe afterwards il throw my Christmas tree in the ocean and catch a wave on it.
