Planning a trip to Puerto Rico in January/Feb for me and a few lady friends. Want to find a cheap rental walking/biking distance to a decent surf break. Wondering how much it would cost to rent a house for 2-3 Months in a decently safe area.

Was planning on hosteling until i stumbled upon a decent deal but any advice from any members of the swellinfo singularity that have done a small extended stay like this would be much appreciated.

Happy holidays hope you guys get yours.

About $1000 per week, at least.
    And I ain't kidding.
Reason why: Rincon is not a "secret". Thousands of morons want to do the exact same thing you want to do. Housing rentals in the area are scarce.
    Sorry dude...but it is true

Look up by Ramey rentals seem to be a lot cheaper up that way. Rincon check tropic cabanas out. They are a little small but could be cozy for a menage et 4

San Juan, hostel San Francisco. You will have fun in that area and it's cheap. Like $20/day

Rincon, perhaps look into aguada. Hit up erBB. Scored a decent deal there in the water. Stacked duplex 700

You can stay in hostels from Rincon to SJ for $10 a night

If you want hollow punchy waves Aguadilla is where you'll wanna be

Don't take advice from Barry he thought a pic of a Nica break looked like dogmans...I mean dogmans looks nothing like that

Sounds good guys! Much appreciated. Yea i figured that this was one of those "go there and figure it out" deals. Thats what happened in costa and i was getting offers to rent 4 bedroom beach fronts in santa terressa for $200 a month with full utilities included.

hahahaha!! Let me see...you were there once and you think you are "wired in"?? God, you are moron.

Trev, I was addressing what you asked for. If you want to be on the beach, as your OP stated, it is costly- that is my point. If you go "inland", it is cheaper, but not very much so, in the Rincon area, which is the better surf area. The Aquadilla area, although cheaper, does NOT break as frequently, as waves have to turn around a point into a bay; that requires a much larger swell. Aquadilla also has a much stronger anti-Americanism sentiment (localism) than Rincon. North of Aquadilla, you can get a nice break, but they are "mushier" that Rincon.
Choice is yours man. From the hills, you will need to rent a car, btw. Near the beaches, expensive quarters but no car required. Again, your choice.
BTW, I lived there 18 years, so you can believe me, or a "been there once "moron. Again, your choice.
Now, having said all of that, I don't do hostels, hovels, or dumps. Never had to. I always rent at the same place, and it is not cheap. But, at my age, I have earned the ability to do so. I return once a year to my ol' home/stomping grounds.
I hope you find what you ask for, something to fit your budget. Have fun. And who knows, if a large swell is imminent, I may hop on a plane and be the guy in the lineup sitting next to you!

best advice you gave him was the car rental cause wherever you stay you need one. there are definitely some serious waves north of Aguadilla that will do you in and ruin your life barry. sure theres wildermush at 2ft and a few other mushier waves up there but you gotta know where to look to get real waves on the north coast. stop being so jaded.

    o barry

O Bagus he said I was envious..Barry's response was some **** he googled before he went on vacation there

Most of the main breaks in Rincon are mushy and you might get a barrel or bowl up on the inside

Chambers and Mingos were my two favorable spots

    Barry's would die at chambers..bet
