New to Surfing: Looking for somebody to teach me from Maryland

    Hey there! My name is Matt and I am looking for somebody that would be willing to teach me how to surf. I am from Maryland and I am willing to travel to NJ and Delaware. I have always wanted to learn how to surf and I think it is the time for me to do it. I have no experience and no gear so if somebody could help me out that would be awesome.

    No need to travel that far,head to closest beach, take a surf lesson, plenty of people in your town will take your money to surf. Or buy a used board or rent and have it, someone will have pity on you and give you unsolicited pointers in the water

    I went to the beach yesterday and tried to get somebody to teach me but nobody would help me. I went to a couple surf shops nearby and they did not have any boards or gear for rent since they had stored the stuff for winter. I really want to learn so if anybody knows anybody in the area that could help me out, please have them txt me 4107079668. I am willing to pay anything to just get in the water to have. Not trying to buy stuff right now, because I want to try it out first and have fun.

    Well, for what it is worth, be patient (especially with the crew of misfits here), and don't give up. You will find your solution to learning. Winter is not a very good time to learn, but where you are, it may well be.

    Frost can also teach you the finer points of doing a propre sand reconne. Pay particular attention to gullies and sand trajectories. As your surfing progresses, you will find that this is a very valuable skill to have. You're probably on your own if you get into trouble out in the water tho.

    Another option is to seek out Wayne down in Cocoa. He'll give you free gear. He only asks for a small favoure or two in return.

    Maybe it could be a symbiotic deal, maybe you teach frost how to swimme, he teach you how to reconne.
