I call hocus pocus. HOCAS POCAS I SAY. Can the tides change what time they are to hit high/low? Yesterday, I saw for Sunday that high would be 8:30am. Now it is 7:19am. Aren't tides predictable/ non-variable?

I actually do think there is something off about the tides on this site. The predicted high tide tomorrow morning for southern Delaware is an hour later than Ocean City Maryland - 6:42 a.m. for OCMD vs. 7:38 for Delaware. Based on what little I know about tidal processes, there is no way the tide is an hour later 20 miles up the coast. None of the other tide tables have more than 5-10 minutes of difference either.

I noticed that li to the obx is pretty close on tides 12:19 low in long beach and a 12:45 low at cape Hatteras tomorrow. That's not even a half hour for 550+ miles

Yeah exactly...if you look at a tide chart, all exposed ocean coastal locations in the mid atlantic roughly the same high and low tide times, so there's no way Delaware would be an hour different than Ocean City.

I going back and forth between a little less wind in the morning and high tide mushiness and a little more wind in the afternoon but with low tide incoming.

I agree- this tides on this site never seem right... I don't even look at them anymore.

I just use my tide watch mostly- it's always right and predictable.

I also like the 'CRNT' app for my iPhone 8s. image.jpg

Sometimes the tide location is not what it's supposed to be. For example, a lot of places list "Sandy Hook" as a tide location, so you'd assume they are referring to the ocean. They're not. They're referring to the bay side at Fort Hancock/USCG Station/NOAA, because that's where the instruments are. Same could be for other locations... they might be giving tides in the bays or inland waterways... wherever the instruments are, and just calling it whatever the closest beach is.

Yeah this is the same on fire island the tides are listed from the coat guard station on the inlet side which is about an hour or so off

Most likely, the tides at the location you desire are taken from a nearby tide station, which may be many miles away and will not match what you witness with your own eyes! In addition, is the tide time shown in the same time zone you are and is it daylight savings or standard time? You need the LAT/LON of the tide station to figure it out!
