I heard after the lump sum and taxes take their bite the jackpot was only like $560 million. Still a ton but man, almost a billion taken out.
I think the tax is 38% and leaves you with about 930 Million or something, could be wrong though. Someone in California hit that sh*t!
It gets cut in half if you take the lump sum. 3 people won so it's split 3 ways. Then it's taxed... So you left with a sh!t ton of dough

Busted! A few years ago winning ticket was from my little town. Some rumor got started that my spouse won. People kept coming up to him with sad stories about their uncle or mom or whoever that had cancer, was broke, needed money etc. -- It was pretty weird.
Thats too funny. So my consolation prize is I won $216 in scratch offs today. Beats a sharp stick in the eye I suppose.
